According to MAPPA CEO Manabu Otsuka, Yuri on Ice!!! Blu-ray and DVD sales exceeded 430,000 copies 😳 YURI!!! on ICE the Movie: Ice Adolescence sequel film was canceled in April 2024, seven years after its announcement. It was revealed last year that the reason was on the creative side, with producer Hideo Katsumata saying: "Since it was an original animation, the people involved—including the creators and the animation studio, MAPPA… among the creators, on the creative side, a situation arose where it just became impossible to proceed with production."
