Kindergarten and second grade students gathered tomatoes and peppers from the Hydroponics Lab on Wednesday. Lettuce from the garden will be added to their harvest and served during lunch on Friday for a home grown treat that all students can enjoy. Yummy!
Grafflin 3rd graders enjoyed a special visit from TV weatherman, John Marshall. Mr. Marshall brought his mobile studio to introduce weather concepts. Students used his green screen technology so they could became weather casters just like on TV.
The Grafflin Hydroponics Lab is flourishing thanks to the hard work of teachers and students. We have strawberries and green beans, and our sunflowers are blooming. We are waiting to see our first tomato and green pepper. Stay tuned!

The 2024 Grafflin Book Swap was launched today. Over 2,000 books were donated by students, parents and staff to provide quite the shopping extravaganza for K-4 classes. A big thank you to Mrs. Schassler and Mrs. Lenaghan for all their hard work setting up the event.
Grafflin World Read Aloud Day! It was an amazing event enjoyed by every student, teacher and guest reader. Thanks to Kaitlin Lester and the Grafflin PTA for their coordinated effort in planning and executing the event.

Grafflin Butterfly Garden Restored: Thanks to all the hard work of Mrs. Bosco, parent volunteers, and third grade and kindergarten students, the Grafflin Butterfly Garden is looking beautiful and ready for the release of monarch butterflies in the next few weeks.
It's a Coding Carnival: Grafflin library teacher, Mrs. Lester and first grade students worked with an Apple professional learning specialist during their library class to learn about and practice coding.
Allergy Awareness Week: It was great to have Kyle Dine back this year to kick off Grafflin's Allergy Awareness Week. Mr. Dine engaged students in song and movement, an interactive quiz, and puppet role playing as they learned about food allergies.
Bus Driver Appreciation Day: Grafflin recognized their bus drivers during arrival and dismissal on Friday, May 19th. A signed banner, a poster, student "thank you" booklets and key chains were presented to acknowledge the drivers' hard work keeping Grafflin students safe.
Future Journalists: Grafflin 4th grade students enjoy the beautiful weather in the atrium as they compose their book recommendations, cartoons, word searches and puzzles for the upcoming Griffin Jr. publication.
Bash the Trash: Thanks to the Grafflin PTA, K-4 students enjoyed an assembly this morning that focused on creating musical instruments from recycled objects. During the program, performers made connections to science, music, and sustainability. It was STEAM in action!
First Grade Rocks! First graders spent time this afternoon is the greenhouse painting rocks for the Grafflin Butterfly Garden in hopes of attracting bees and butterflies. They also had the opportunity to pot green beans that will be planted in the raised beds later this spring.
