Ian Fleming was born on this day in 1908. When he joined the Times he negotiated a contract whereby he could spend three months of each year at his Jamaican home, Goldeneye. His neighbour in Jamaica was Noël Coward, who apparently wasn’t overly impressed with Dr No 😂

The former MP for Dorset, Henry Sturt, who died #OnThisDay 1866, was faced with a difficult choice over how to vote on the repeal of the corn laws in 1846. Find out more about his dilemma in our blog: victoriancommons.wordpress.com/2019/03/29/con…

The British are the most zoophobic people in the world. That whole David Attenborough thing? A big lie. Most Brits want to live in a parking lot. No wildlife at all. Or at least nothing more charismatic than a blue tit. So depressing.
