Ian Fleming was born on this day in 1908. When he joined the Times he negotiated a contract whereby he could spend three months of each year at his Jamaican home, Goldeneye. His neighbour in Jamaica was Noël Coward, who apparently wasn’t overly impressed with Dr No 😂

April 1710. Statute of Anne, the 1st law regulating copyright, came into force in Britain. It was regulated by the British government and courts rather than by private parties. The law originally prescribed a copyright term of 14 years.

The British are the most zoophobic people in the world. That whole David Attenborough thing? A big lie. Most Brits want to live in a parking lot. No wildlife at all. Or at least nothing more charismatic than a blue tit. So depressing.
