While it is true that the precept of love does not require you necessarily to choose this or that good beyond what is prudent or reasonable, it does require that we never will evil in order that good may come out of it, which stems from the most fundamental precept of the natural law which is to “do good and avoid evil”. It is living in accordance with this precept that demands unconditional obedience even to the point of death. It is sometimes morally necessary to undergo intolerable suffering out of sacrificial Love not only for those entrusted to our care but also for the Good Himself, should duty demand this of us. In this case, I think it does, since the intentional killing of innocent life does not only constitute a failure to pursue the good but in fact stands in direct opposition to the Good. Under no circumstances can this be approved

One of the tragic unspoken realities out there is the crushing resentment, burnout and regret parents of down syndrome people feel, and we create a taboo around being honest about that with this kind of virtue signalling about what a blessing it is. Don't think about the horrible struggle someone in their 70s or 80s faces caring for a grown man around the clock, just dote over the cute idea of a perpetual child and go about your day.
