When I worked on the hill many moons ago. I seem to remember spending way more time investigating what the actual government was up to. Unlike today, the opposition was a secondary concern for the major media outlets.

Just a catastrophic situation even in the best of circumstances. A profoundly shameful episode in American history no matter what happens next.
