"I sit at the hotel at night, I think of something that’s funny, then I go get a pen and I write it down. Or, if the pen’s too far away, I have to convince myself that what I thought of ain’t funny." -Mitch Hedberg the why, what, and how of taking notes practiceprocesscraft.substack.com/p/take-note

@danshipper @deakhaus if you can start to recognize those moments, you might be able to channel that feeling of threat differently, and anger can allow for some necessary defense.

@danshipper @deakhaus yes! like in what christine said, anger is a sign that something we value is being threatened. but if you don't experience anger, another response to that threat is to make yourself smaller--this can manifest in a number of ways.

@JasonShen @brianbesss yes! anger is a signal that something you value is being threatened. figuring out what that is is where you begin.

@brianbesss Interesting! Something I’m pondering is what emotions have to teach us. Anger might be a sign that my brain thinks I’m facing some kind of unfairness or injustice and need to fight back. And that might be worth exploring.

Which emotion do you avoid? For me, it's anger. I'm uncomfortable with holding it, afraid to burn others and be implicated. I'm trying to remind myself that there's a time and place for every kind of feeling.
