LGBT Youth Scotland Convenor, Tim Westwood. Questions have arisen over the public biography of Timothy Guy Westwood (born Sept 2000), current Convenor of LGBT Youth Scotland. His official bio describes him as a 'portfolio director, lawyer, and adviser' with senior roles at British Red Cross, Amnesty International, Mind, and 'numerous boards'. But what do official records actually show? Westwood was appointed Director of LGBT Youth Scotland on 6 Jan 2025 and became Convenor after the 2025 AGM. In July 2019 (age ~18), a Companies House filing for Westwood Shares Ltd changed details for 'Rt Hon. Lord Barony Timothy Guy Westwood'. This was later administratively removed by Companies House – annotated as 'not properly delivered'. A follow-up restored 'Mr Timothy Guy Westwood'. Westwood's bio calls him a lawyer. However, he does not appear on the Solicitors Regulation Authority (England & Wales) or Law Society of Scotland registers. No public record of legal qualifications or practising certificate has been found, though a historical LinkedIn profile denotes a 20-21 Open University (Law) course. At age 25, he is presented as a governance expert with extensive third-sector leadership experience. His bio on LGBT YS's website claims senior roles at British Red Cross, Amnesty International, and Mind, plus numerous boards. Searches of Companies House, Charity Commission (England & Wales), and OSCR (Scotland) however, show no records of him as director, trustee, or board member at these organisations. His verified appointments are very limited. His corporate activity is linked to small/private companies (e.g. past roles in Limitless entities, Manchester Pride Ltd etc. – short tenures) show limited or no active accounts; most dissolved apace. His current Companies House profile "Tim Westwood" lists only LGBT Youth Scotland as active. Charity governance matters. The significant discrepancies between Timothy Guy Westwood/Mr. Tim Westwood/The Rt Hon. Lord Barony Timothy Guy Westwood's public biography and verifiable official records raise serious concerns about transparency and potential embellishment of Tim Westwood's CV. At just 25 years old, the claimed "senior" governance expertise and board-level experience at major national charities do not appear supported by Companies House, Charity Commission, OSCR, or professional solicitor registers. Even though the Convenor role is voluntary and unpaid — as confirmed in the charity’s recent audited accounts, where all directors give their time freely with no remuneration received — the position carries significant responsibility for the governance and oversight of a well-funded organisation supporting vulnerable young people, which has faced repeated safeguarding controversies and public scrutiny. In such a sensitive role, where trust, integrity, and robust governance directly impact young lives, full transparency in leadership qualifications is not optional — it is essential. The public and donors are entitled to accurate information about those entrusted with oversight of the charity. tfn.scot/news/new-conve…
