@gogoraleigh This "Fever Dream" thing is everywhere this week, including today's "crawl" / "ticker" / "chyron" during baseball. 🤷

@danamccall Right! But HT sold out early. For Friday's N&O I'll target the Cary store openings at 6am HT or 7am Publix.

I wanted a local newspaper today. Barnes & Noble no longer carries them. 😯 I even checked the shelf labeled "New Fiction," which seemed to me to be the appropriate category these days for print media. 😄

@KevinMcCurdy Will, Luck, Skill. @Canes had different elements rise gm to gm ("C'mon up there's a Rising"). Lucky posts and crossbars. Will of Stanky, Blaker goal in Gm6; Staal's GWG in Gm4. Skills: Slavo's stick, Jordo at the dot. Tops: Freddie adding competitive Will to his usual calm Skills

Not a Vegas fan, but Brayden McNabb took a 87 mile an hour slapshot in the nose, had reconstructive procedures with ~30 stitches and played the next game. Leon Draisaitl played through 2 series with a high ankle sprain 3 years ago, putting up on of the most dominant playoff performances in recent memory in the process. That's an injury that no football, soccer, or basketball player would play through. Arguably most NHL players wouldn't play with this injury either. Patrice Bergeron played game 6 of the 2013 finals with a punctured and collapsed lung, broken ribs, torn rib cartilage and a separated shoulder. Hockey players are just built different. Also, the cup requires three things: 1. The favour of the hockey gords. 2. Timing (ie. team composition, being on the upswing at the right time, Carolina is a great example this year) 3. Sheer will to win at all costs.

Every year they say the Stanley Cup is the hardest trophy to win in sports Based on what? Like do we have ANY metrics showing this? Because I have a hard time believing a trophy given every year is harder to win than Olympic Gold or the World Cup for instance

@RHogewood @gsocomplex We have been "in the arena" every year, starting with Greensboro where the mascot was to emerge from the Zamboni but had a seizure while locked inside. Later, I rode the Zamboni on opening night in Raleigh. NHL Draft, All-Star game, 2006 Gm7. Epic memories shared with so many!

Greensboro catching some massive strays there on the Stanley Cup final broadcast 😂 Sure the crowds were small, but we were there laying the foundation! How many can say they were day 1s??? 😤

@HockeyThinkTank Incredible 2-man effort on this play. "Will" describes it.

KIDS: Logan Stankoven and Jackson Blake are both under 6 feet tall. But their absolute will helped lead the Canes to the Stanley Cup. This line has been one of the best lines of any team for the whole playoffs. Through plays like this. They are absolute dogs on second efforts, battles, and in the dirty areas. Just RELENTLESS on this shift. Winning races, multiple efforts, and eventually they get rewarded with the goal. These two set the tone all playoffs. And for all the smaller players out there, they showed us that it truly isn't the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog. Congrats to the Canes for reaching the dream and winning the Stanley Cup. And thanks to all of you who've been following along with these breakdowns all year!!

Outside of a goal off the forecheck, it does not get much more Carolina than this — a typical Hurricanes-style goal that ends up being the Cup winner - Slavin recovers inside, maintains gap, and uses an aggressive stick to disrupt the pass attempt through the middle - The forwards are relentless on the track, coming back hard to the puck and creating an outnumbered situation - Carolina plays fast on first touch and immediately transitions the other way - Hall maintains his speed by skating onto the puck on the stretch pass

To adapt a familiar phrase as the Carolina Hurricanes take the battle west, "What goes to Las Vegas ENDS in Las Vegas." It was an exciting, exhilarating, exhausting night at Lenovo Center. #soundthesiren @Canes #LetsGoCanes #StanleyCup

@WaltRuff Our defense was awful and somehow we hung in there with Power Play performance. Captain Carolina was courageous.

Regardless of who is in goal, the #Canes want to improve the defensive side of their game tonight. "It doesn't matter who is in net, we need to play better defensively in front of them, and limit some of those Grade As we've been giving up," Jordan Staal said to the media.

Jordan Staal is the first player in 43 years to score a goal in each of the first four games of a Stanley Cup Final. He joins Mike Bossy (1982 w/ NYI), Steve Payne (1981 w/ MNS), and Johnny Bucyk (4 GP in 1970 w/ BOS).

This Canes team is just not physical enough on the puck handler. Defense is losing this opportunity.

@ZachCaniac Every year NHL makes up crap in the Finals you didn't see all season (e.g. Brett Hull). It WAS called dead. Torts gets referee to change his call to GI for a challenge; just made it up! From this 'Canes ticket holder, we got breaks with (1) quick whistle, (2) high risk challenge.

I think everything got confusing with the Vegas no-goal. What I saw was the referee lost sight of the puck and called it dead. Fast call, doesn't matter, happens all the time. I don't get how Torts challenged GI if play was dead so seemed like they called GI on the ice. I personally thought they called the play dead and Torts was challenging GI to give them extra time to review the whistle. In the end idk but I still think the league meant to call the play dead and that is that. Quick whistle, nothing new
