Jalen Hurts Mini Camp Stats, Day 2: It was another rough day for Jalen Hurts and the offense. The final series of the day really summed up the struggles they have had. In the final series of minicamp Hurst went 0/3 with an interception after being sacked on the first play. Both of the big plays in the series came from Tariq Woolen, who has probably been this team’s most impressive player during the OTAs. The interception was a nice play by Woolen, who seemed to read where Hurts was going with the ball and easily picked it off. It was definitely a play Hurts would want back. The final two throws of the day both fell incomplete. The offense wasn’t much better in 7v7. Hurts went 4/8 in his two series to start the day, which is a very low completion percentage for 7v7. He had two passes to Saquon and Dontayvion Wicks on back-to-back plays where both had to try to fully extend out of bounds to get the ball. Both came up slow afterwards but were fine. Hurts did have his best throw of the OTAs when he hit Dontayvion Wicks with a perfectly thrown ball over the fingertips of Cooper DeJean. The pass had a perfect arc on it to hit Wicks along the sideline. Hurts also had another nice throw when he went from under center to hit Dallas Goedert over the middle(ish) of the field for a short completion. There are excuses you can make for the poor showing from Hurts and the offense. Learning a new offense, no DeVonta Smith and going up against what will almost certainly be an elite defense. All are fair. But that doesn’t change the fact that the result on the field for the offense was not a good one yet again. Stats: 6-14: Two Day Stats: 20/31, 0 TD, 1 INT Grade: D

Jalen Hurts Minicamp Stats, Day 1: The defense definitely got the best of the offense on Tuesday, the third time in three practices open to the media that the defense has won the day. The worst stretch for the offense came at the end of practice when they went up against the first-team defense in situational football. The offense twice had the ball down eight 25-yards from the end zone. Twice the offense failed to reach the end zone, with Hurts “sacked” twice and missing Devonta Smith on a pass near the end zone. Hurts worst throw of the day was also to Smith but it came early in practice. Smith was open down the middle of the field but Hurts put it just too far in front of his outstretched arms. Smith wasn’t wide open but Hurts not giving Smith a real chance to make the play on the ball makes it a throw the QB will likely want back. Hurts best throw of the day was to tight end EJ Jenkins. Hurts was under center for the play and rolled to his left after dropping back due to pressure. There is a chance in a game he might have been sacked, but the play was kept alive and Hurts threw it across the field deep to Jenkins who came down with it. At this point in the offseason you would expect the defense to be ahead of the offense considering how much longer one unit has been running their scheme as opposed to the new one the offense is running. Still, it has been a rough few practices for Hurts and the offense. Stats: 14-19, 0 TD, 0 INT Grade: D
