Yesterday, @Jeff_McLane reported the Eagles aren’t planning to extend Jalen Hurts this offseason, but he added another interesting nugget on his podcast: McLane said there’s a belief inside the building that the only way to truly get through to Hurts is… through the media. According to him, some within the organization feel Hurts hasn’t been listening internally, and that public messaging, like a well placed ESPN article, might be the only way to reach him. He also believes this is what lead to A. J. Brown’s in-season tweet, thinking a message through social media was the only way. And that’s why it’s happening now: With Hurts heading into a pivotal year contract wise, they feel he will listen if there is an ESPN article covering it.
