3. The Scottish Youth Parliament Elections are happening. Young people aged between 12 and 25 will put themselves forward as candidates to represent their peers on a national platform. This is a great opportunity to gain new skill and meet different people from across Scotland.

2026 is going to be an exciting year for young people to have their voices heard. 🧵 Here’s 3 reasons why.

2. The Scottish Parliament Elections are taking place in May. This is when the public choose which MSPs they want to represent them in Holyrood. For thousands of young people across Dundee, it will be the first time they are old enough to vote.

1. We are publishing the Dundee Youth Council Manifesto. This will outline ambitious, youth-led calls for action to build a better Dundee. These will be shared directly with local decision-makers.

As 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣5️⃣ comes to an end, we’ve been reflecting on our work throughout the year. Wishing young people in Dundee and beyond a happy new year!

At our latest meeting, Dundee Youth Council discussed the University of Dundee’s recently announced recovery plan. We will continue to advocate for the interests of students and young people.

📢 On Monday 7th April, @JackAndersonSYP chaired our April Monthly Meeting. 👥 We were very grateful to be joined by Cllr Dorothy McHugh. 🗣️ We spoke about the role of DYC in promoting youth voice, as well as some of the current issues affecting young people. #DYC #YouthVoice

📢In 2024, the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child were incorporated into Scot’s law. 👂Under Article 12, children have the right to be heard. 🤝 Dundee Youth Council, working in partnership with Dundee Youth Work will give young people a voice. Read for more.
