Squad Goals

@KlassyDogs Wish more people knew the nuance that goes into scheduling across an entire department. What went into the decision to schedule a noncon basketball game the same day as two conference games? Would imagine this is the 1st leg of a H&H. UVU unable to play Sunday?

Save Mart Center is managing an unusually tight stretch this weekend, with three major events in a 24-hour period. Friday night’s Eric Church concert is expected to end around 11pm. Immediately afterward, crews will work through the night to remove the concert staging and install the volleyball court for Saturday’s noon Senior Day match.  Save Mart Center staff need additional time between the games to transition the court and the venue from volleyball to basketball. Both teams must also have at least one hour in the arena for required pre-game warm-up time. Because of those operational and contractual realities, the earliest possible tip-off for Men’s Basketball is 7:00pm. That timing places the game opposite our 7:30pm home football kickoff. While the overlap isn’t ideal, it is simply the result of the tight turnaround created by hosting three major events in one day—not a matter of program priority. We appreciate the SMC staff  for making this challenging schedule possible and ensuring all teams and fans have a safe and ready venue.

I live in a glass house, NCCAA team on schedule. But we can't keep doing this.

I just really think we should use sports venues just for sports.
