If the bottom 50% of Americans only pay 2% of all taxes, why don’t we just ask the rich to pay 2% more so half of America can be completely tax free? To the rich, it might mean one less private jet or yacht. To the bottom 50%, it might mean not having to choose between rent, food, utilities, or healthcare.

Even the bottom HALF of income filers pay only 18% of total Payroll Taxes collected.

Shouldn't the poorest workers contribute equal to their earnings? 🤔 Earn 11% of the income; pay (roughly) 11% of the taxes? Idk anything about Albanian taxes, only the US.

It isn't used by the gov for general funds / discretionary spending. 90% of income tax filers (almost EVERYONE, not only the poor) pay only 7.65% of their earnings to FICA, but don't pay income taxes on that 'income'. Businesses pay the other half.

@APuppyPlushie Well, if you have a car payment, you can sell that car and buy an older one. That would save your monthly budget a lot of money. Make sure your insurance premiums will go down with your new choice. Some older cars actually have higher insurance costs.
