Intro to Culinary students are studying yeast breads. This week they made their dough using the quick mix method, let it rise, shaped, dressed & baked it! Today they got to eat their delicious work!! Also it’s Pi Day!!
Last week at the Indiana FCCLA/ ProStart competition EC student, Keegan Partin competed in the Baking & Pastry Competition! He did an awesome job and I am so proud of his efforts! Keegan earned a SILVER Medal & plans to pursue his culinary education after high school!! 👏👏👏

Beiersdorfer Orchards generously donated apples to the EC culinary program so the students could learn how to to make apple pie this week! Their pies turned out awesome! Thank you!!

EC ProStart had a busy week! We made baked goods for the Aurora Farmers Fair baking contest, catered the Friday night football team dinner, and made pies for the St. Leon Octoberfest pie auction!
Intro to Culinary students continue to practice their measuring skills in lab. Today they made Mini Zucchini Breads w/ a sweet honey butter! Most of the zucchini was even locally grown in Ms. McConnell’s back yard! 😊
ProStart 1 is learning about the history of foodservice! They completed their first lab of many in this lesson making Mexican Street Corn, Funnel Cakes & Tart of Onion!
ProStart 2 students are learning all about Stocks, Sauces, & Soups! We are cooking our way through the 5 mother sauces. They made their first sauce a velouté and used it to make Chicken Pot Pies. They were delicious! 🤤

EC Culinary is back at it! Today ProStart 2 used from fresh home grown produce to make Crostinis with fresh made Pesto, fresh Roasted Tomatoes and fresh Mozzarella!
These ProStart students passed their food safety Servsafe exam & earned certification!! This is our biggest group to date to get their certification! I’m so proud of them for putting in the hard work and dedication to pass this test! Way to go! 👏
