I saw a few people share that they got Claude to control their Philips Hue lights. It looked really cool. But it also meant buying a Hue hub and more expensive bulbs. So I thought… what if I tried to do the same thing, but as cheaply as possible? This weekend I built a tiny tool called ClaudeLight. Now when Claude is thinking, my desk glows purple. When it’s running something, it turns blue. If it errors, red. When it’s done, it just fades into a warm glow. I used a $5 Tuya bulb and a $10 IKEA lamp. No hub. No fancy ecosystem. Just local WiFi and Claude Hooks It’s a small thing, but it’s surprisingly nice to glance over and instantly know what Claude is doing without checking the terminal.
