Whenever I post anything about the cops, my replies are constantly filled with people who are like "NOT ALL COPS." So l tried to put together a cogent analogy to help them understand why it IS ALL COPS. 🧵/x

In one week, this country turns 250. Today I was at Foley Square for the All of U.S. 250 mobilization. The ask for Governor Hochul: reinstate the reparations commission and return stolen lands. #AllOfUs250 youtube.com/shorts/gazQvMp…

This week someone targeted my family for harm with a false report. We’re physically OK, but that doesn’t mean we weren’t harmed. I am beyond furious. Whatever your politics, this is awful, wrong, and can never become normal. substack.com/home/post/p-20…

If you ever doubt how magical this world is, one day you will decide to go to a World Cup watch party in Oakland that you found online to root for a country where you spent two years trying to coax English out of the mouths of Cape Verdean teenagers. 1/7

The state legislature is definitely more YIMBY than it was yesterday Good wins in allies from Eli Northup, Diana Ayala, and González-Rojas However, I did expect more. Jeannine Kiely, the founder of Friends of Elizabeth Street Garden, beat Ryder Kessler :( 4/10 night

Alex Bores, conceding in NY-12, tells his son from the stage: "I want you to know that your dad got in this fight for you. So the biggest technology in the history of the world works for you, and not just for the few people who can afford to own it."

Alex Bores campaign volunteers are set up on West 86th with big white boards: “Should we regulate AI?” Yes/no. “It’s a conversation starter,” a volunteer with “Chorus for Bores” tells me.

If you live in NY-12, please consider voting for @AlexBores today. I support Alex partly because of his leadership on AI. As someone who works on AI ethics and policy, I think we need elected officials who understand the technology and prioritize building institutions that can responsibly manage it. Alex has a background in computer science and years of experience working in tech, and he has already helped pass serious AI safety legislation in New York. He brings real expertise to the issue at a moment when we badly need it. There are plenty of other reasons to support Alex too. He has promising and practical ideas about how to improve affordability, protect workers and consumers, expand access to health care, and defend democratic institutions. These issues might seem quite different from AI safety, but a common theme connects them all is that powerful systems will not automatically promote the common good, though thoughtful governance can help steer them in that direction. I also know Alex personally, and I can confirm that he is caring, driven, intelligent, pragmatic, effective, and independent. We always need more of that in Congress, but we especially need it during what might be a significant period of disruption, and one of the most socially, politically, economically, and technologically consequential moments in our history. So again, if you live in NY-12, please consider voting for Alex today. And please help spread the word.

If Bores loses, then other Dems will shut up about regulating AI to avoid getting swamped by dark $$. But if Dems don't seize the opportunity to run on AI, they'll be squandering the biggest political opportunity of a generation. This is why NY-12 matters so much for 2028

The Raine family is at the core of my closing argument because their story—Adam's story—is at the heart of our fight. NY-12 is a test of our democracy. Who gets the power to regulate AI, the people or the oligarchs? Don't let them win. Vote.

When Micah worked for Bloomberg, he urged the veto of a bill that would provide help with rent and utilities to people living in shelters with HIV/AIDS. So glad he "was an important part of [the] team."
Mike Bloomberg@MikeBloomberg

We need leaders in Washington who can bring fresh ideas to the table, navigate complex challenges, and get results. @MicahLasher was an important part of our team at City Hall, where he helped fight for New York City's interests in Albany. I trusted him to get things done then, and I trust he'll represent NY-12 well now. Please join me in voting for him today.

It’s great to see a candidate take AI regulation seriously. And even better, he’s an effective legislator. That’s why I donated the max legal amount to the @AlexBores campaign and DMed ~20 people I know in his district to encourage them to vote for him in today’s primary.
Charlotte Alter@CharlotteAlter

Ahead of tomorrow's primary in NY-12, take a second to read my interview with Alex Bores, in which he explains why regulating AI is one of the most important issues facing Congress and why so few people are talking about it charlottealter.substack.com/p/alex-bores-s…
