In 1970, Dr Neville Silverston MBE and Dr Derek Cracknell MBE saw people needlessly dying in road traffic collisions and developed the Mid Anglia General Practitioner Accident Service (MAGPAS, now Magpas Air Ambulance) to try and combat it.
