@pythaginboots My biggest problem with this post is the fact that you not giving us an actual criteria on what a GOAT should be. Your exact words were "I've never seen someone SO OBVIOUSLY NOT TOP 3". You can't just dismiss someone then not give us a criteria then call people uneducated.

Can’t wait in 30 years for the next generation to look back at the careers of Messi and Ronaldo on their 12k devices and pretend football didn’t exist because the TV footage looked too grainy. The disrespect to the likes of Pele, Maradona, Beckenbauer, Di Stefano just to name but a few is absurd just because none of you can be arsed to research, study the work of your forefathers and instead think the world began the day you were born. You’d think the current game is littered with goats across every position the way some are going on ie games never been better - perpetual evolution etc Utter nonsense.

Is Cristiano Ronaldo the most FORCED GOAT in Sports History? Never seen someone so obviously not a top 3 candidate but his PR campaign is insane. Thoughts? Have we seen this level of delusion in other sports… #portugal #worldcup

@DanVMaul @pythaginboots You're such an idiot😂😂 Ronaldo was playing as a winger from the time he 18. A traditional winger that is. He scored his first champions League goal after 32 games which makes his record even more impressive. In fact he only scored 15 in 52 in his first Man United spell.

@Emperorsaint4 @pythaginboots The PR campaign forced the narrative of the comparison between him and Messi when there's no possible comparison. He's the CL top scorer because he's the one with most games & shots. He isn't even top 3 in game/goal ratio and he's the 2nd worst in the top 20 in shots/goal ratio.

@mark1nhu @pythaginboots You still not answering my question I asked where did Argentina rank in the 1970s? I know the Brazilian league dominated in the early 50s-70s and there was no need to leave. I've never really heard anything about the Argentina league one being the dominant league.

@Emperorsaint4 @pythaginboots You know what, there was a time football was not completely Europe-centric. Clubs like Vasco da Gama (40s) and Santos (60s) used to beat the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona with considerable goals margin. Cracks used to stay in their country. Your optics are not accurate.

@The_mad__titan @pythaginboots You can't even read. I put Pele and Messi in my top 3 and said there's an argument for Ronaldo to be there, you keep mentioning Messi and saying Ronaldo fans are delusional when the question HAS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH MESSI.

@Emperorsaint4 @pythaginboots Ronaldo ain't all-time at anything bro. Just thought you should get that fact straight. Pele had more goals overall. Messi has more goals/game overall. Messi has more non-penalty goals. There's no category where Ronaldo leads anything. That's why they call his fans delusional

@Emperorsaint4 @pythaginboots If goals made people goats then I wonder what we'd call likes of halaand. Kane has been racking up no.s barely talked about. CR is often insecure when compared to Messi and despite his hard work, Messi edges him on he embodies football. Never seen a player like him.

@pythaginboots Is it because of the eye test? Yes Diego won a World Cup in which he almost did it by himself but man's only had like 10 titles throughout his career. Can't Ronaldo's consistency and trophy haul put him slightly above Maradona?( I'm just asking by the way)

@pythaginboots Okay let's have a real and honest conversation I get Messi and Pele that's a given but there's an argument to be had about Maradona. Don't get me wrong Diego was a God but he's best years were at Napoli and Argentine Juniors, where did the Argentine league rank in the 1970s?

@GuguMalwanee @WonderMahlobo My brother Sebelebele only recently got converted into being a RB he hasn't been tested in a high quality game. Our defence is already shaky do you want to risk playing him back there? This is a must win game bru, the Koreans are extremely technical.

@TouchlineTruth Ngiyakuzwa touchline but we need more cutting edge. The idea that "dominating" a match means more possession is wrong, it means being a threat and making the opposition goal keeper work, what's the point of 60% possession and only 2 shots on target?

@Emperorsaint4 That too is true, but we played a good game. The bigger point is that we can compete, a lot to work on and I mean a lot, but we can compete

Ngiyanizwa niyakhuluma. All the Czech guys play in Europe and we fielded 11 players out of 14 who ply they trade in the PSL. With all that physicality and tactical know how, we had twice as many passes as them and clearly dictated the game. All I’m saying is, talent for talent we’ll cook most countries, we just need more exposure at this level for these guys. Tebza bossed the midfield, Mbokazi owned their attack (Only been away from SA for 6 months) just as an example. We can improve, but ay Nani stop making it seem like asilazi. We lack the experience, but possess some level of brilliance, and no I’m not rhyming.

@ZooSipho @WonderMahlobo Lol now I know why scouts always sign the South Africans we least expect. We see ball differently, who exactly is coping? Tebza and Mbokazi only??

@WonderMahlobo Quality lacks sometimes but his attackers aren't helping him either. He's our only player that genuinely makes run in behind opposition defences, if we take him out then who's going to be our attacking threat? South Korea are a ball possession team remember that.

@17offyourfeet @Rassie72 The only reason we qualified is that they increased the amount of teams from 32 to 46, CAF teams doubled from 5 to 10 while CONCAF Increased 4 to 6, EUFA 13 To 16, AFC 6 To 9, CONMEBOL 4 To 6, they also added one team from OFC. FIFA increased the teams to make more money,

@TshegoLemao @YesWeCrann Have you considered how high the bar was during that period? Look at the national teams in 2002 and ask yourself if Bafana Bafana had a chance.

@YesWeCrann I beg to differ those ones they played 2 world cups and were knocked out at group stages so until proven otherwise they at the stage the current players are at the moment , self development they did but it never translated to national team.

The South African football conversation is fascinating, because - like anywhere - there’s so much context required before you’re able to understand the full picture… One of SA’s biggest strengths on a domestic level is a big contributor to their struggles on the world stage. The PSL is lucrative and is at a good level, so there’s no need to leave. At Mamelodi Sundowns you can conquer the continent, and earn incredibly well in doing so. At Orlando Pirates you can win trophies and play in front of tens of thousands of people. But there are levels to this game, and when you’re not at the highest level every week then you’ll feel it when you’re up against players that are. Benni, Lucas, Schillo, Shoes, Fish, Bartlett and so many more effectively had to leave. They became better players - and #Bafana became a better team - because of it. This isn’t about disrespect for the PSL, because it’s an excellent product with the really good players, but for SA to grow on a global scale, we need more talent in the big leagues.
