@ApolloMaster006 I think the story benefits from respecting what previous story was going for. And if it was going "Leon will never see Dracula again. But it's OK because his eternal promise will hunt Dracula forever" we should let Leon exist like that +

And I'll say more: Rose will fight The Fallen three times. Each time she will get a relic. True Cross Crown of Thorns Holy Nail No idea what the cross does for traversal, but the thorns will let her hang from pegs and the nail will let her pierce through floors.

About my other guess: The Fallen is Saint Louis. He fought with a sword (sword on the card), he was king (ermine mantle), he became a saint (halo), and he had a "crown of thorns". If you notice, there are thorns scars in his arm, and his "whip" is thorn-like.

Of course we had no way to know this. The character, too, is strongly reminiscent of another famous character in the franchise. But I want to believe this was intentional. There's another point in the trailer that shows us a blue rose with a moon design, too.

Noticing with the benefit of hindsight that the first trailer for Belmont's Curse told us the protagonist's name in the very first frame. A huge ass window dominating the entire screen, called "Rose", of which the Notre-Dame building has three.

@purifyws is my witness on this. I say "probably" because I remember checking up on this at the time and finding nothing. So I think I was the first, but I might've been ONE of the firsts (I did it on July 17, 2020). And I did it with all the other characters too. Even Robert.

fact about me: I was probably the first to beat Bloodstained CotM 2 in Alfred only mode, days after it released. At one point I thought it was impossible. Because of my attempt it was discovered that the game removes the subweapon that'd make Alfred strong as hell in solo mode.

I think the reason that so many people are hoping that it is Leon (I’ll admit even me.); is because it sounds infinitely more interesting and compelling than it being another well known historical figure. Plus it sounds more prevalent to the story and the legacy of the Belmont family. The mere idea of Leon and Dracula possibly meeting again? *chefs kiss*

In my opinion there isn't such a thing as a visual "retconning" a previous visual, because visuals are just the artist's interpretation of a collection of ideas they choose to express. It just happens some visuals become more iconic than others, and that's OK.

My understanding is that how a character looks is canon to that work. i.e. Trevor is armor-clad on CVIII, because that's the aesthetic of that work. Yet Trevor is more suave through Kojima's eyes. It's all canon, you're just seeing the world through different eyes +

@Emppixel I think The Fallen not being an important CASTLEVANIA character would be an awkward misfire. Joan of Arc is just called.. Joan of Arc, why would another real historical figure have their identity concealed and built up as some mystery?

@DarianBelmont Mind, I understand these are all hypothetics. We know nothing. Maybe they wrote a long, detailed reason. Maybe Leon is indeed now a saint-like figure. Maybe even "sainthood" was thrust into him unwillingly. But then I can't help but suspect strange writing.

@DarianBelmont Last time a Belmont was metaphorically and non-canonically portrayed as a saint (it's from the music box, not a game), what did he have in his hand? The actual holy weapon that banishes all evil. Why is a saint Leon dressed in the crusader garb he let go of?
