it was really great to see freddie break through yesterday. That's the vanguard of an exciting generation of Freddie, Shreyas, Bodhana, Supratit, Stanley, Jude Shearsby, etc. One win and they'll get plenty more.

An honourable mention goes out to FM Supratit Banerjee, who finished 5th in the British Rapidplay Championship 2026, with the young star finishing on a win vs GM Daniel Gormally. After going up a pawn, Gormally's knight became trapped in an entertaining game #chess #englishchess

In the British Rapidplay Championship 2026, GM Shreyas Royal also shared the runner up prize with GM Gawain Jones. Shreyas finished just 0.5 off the lead, in a good display that included the below, well executed, win (as white) over Ukrainian GM Eldar Gasanov #chess #englishchess

Congratulations to dark horse Scottish FM Frederick Gordon. He won on demand in the final round of the British Rapidplay Championship 2026 vs GM Gawain Jones. Things unravelled fast for Jones in a very impressive showing from the young Scotsman. #chess #englishchess

The British Rapidplay Championship 2026 is underway. GM Gawain Jones leads after 6 rounds. His Rd 6 win over IM Maciej Czopor saw a nice Queen sac from the Polish IM, but Gawain came out on top in a fantastic endgame #chess #englishchess

IM Jonah Willow finished 3rd in the Hotel Stockholm North 8th GM Tournament. He went unbeaten to achieve a healthy rating gain. #chess #englishchess

IM Jonah Willow remains unbeaten at the Hotel Stockholm North 8th GM tournament. In Rd 3, he beat FM Vitus Medhus. Both had passed pawns, but Willow found a sacrifice to create a fork and capture a blockading rook, leaving a winning position. #chess #englishchess

IM Jonah Willow got off to a winning start at the 8th GM Hotel Stockholm North. He found a tactic to win a pawn vs IM Philip Lindgren, before driving his passed pawns forward and eventually switching the attack to create a mating net. Very impressive play. #chess #englishchess.
