Love thee, Notre Dame 🎶 Last night, more than 1,600 Notre Dame students braved 19° temps for Mass at St. Olaf’s Chapel, built by Coyle Hall residents from the 38 inches of January snow.

In 1947, King George pinned Tania with her mother's posthumously awarded George Cross, the second highest military honor of the UK. Violette was one of the protagonists of my novel, SISTERS OF NIGHT AND FOG. It was an honor to tell her story. May we never forget.

Pre-school canceled all week, book deadlines, toddler now sick and puking every 3 hours—trying not to get baby sick before 1 month birthday—and I have to keep up with molting lobsters on this website.

where there is sadness, joy. O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console, to be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love.

On Intnl. Holocaust Remembrance Day, the Prayer for Peace, by St. Francis: "Lord, make me an instrument of your peace: where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light

@illativefaith A return not only to (at least) monthly Confession, but also the normalization of not receiving the Eucharist unless in a state of grace, would have a profoundly positive effect on the spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical health of society.

At every parish I’ve started in, confession is a dead sacrament. But after a couple of years of occasional preaching on the subject and generous confession times, the practice skyrockets. Every time.
Iacobus Novus@SeamusNua

New England boomer Catholics and Southern Millennial Catholics live in two different realities. The former see a dying religion in need of drastic change. The latter see a stronger religion persevering. Thus article about confession bears out the same observation. /1

Happy New Year's Eve! The vast majority of books I read this year were for research, but I always have a novel and a spiritual book going, too. These were the best books I read this year, with ISOLA taking the lead as my favorite. What are your favorite books read this year?
