@hrcshw @rozanovsjane It's weaponized incompetence. "I know something's wrong, but I won't press the issue, because then I would have to admitt the relationship is imbalance and change something, and I don't want to do it, because it works fine for me"
English

@rozanovsjane tbf to him it is a self-protection mechanism, compartmentalization so that he doesn't have to confront the internalized homophobia and low self-awareness. he knows ilya loves him, and it is mutual, so if he thinks about it, he would have to see the sacrifice and do smth about it.
English

A big issue with Shane post HR, is how he assumes the worst of Ilya. He doesn't support him when Hayden is out of line, he assumes Ilya wants sex instead of connection & is annoyed by it without confirmation of it, he thinks Ilya is lazy & content regarding the Centaurs, &⬇️⬇️⬇️
j@offthewestsidee
the issue with this having nothing to do with troy but more so that shane would even ask ilya if he outed them
English

@rozanovsjane Especially everything regarding the Centaurs. He's so hockey obsessed, he should be aware it's impossible to just turn such an underperforming team into a powerhouse overnight. He even admitts he wouldn't be able to do it himself, yet still expects Ilya to perfom a miracle.
English

@starboyrozzy81 I feel sorry for this person's partner, if they have one
English

@starboyrozzy81 Yeah, and if it's not poc, it's bottom, or an autistic person. They seem hellbent on missing the point
English

@EscapistMedea Yeah and i fear some people do not have the brain power to conceptualize or handle this type of nuance and would immediately skip to the “vilifying poc” narrative even though you can easily tie these themes together 🤧
English

weed & mom comments might make turn my tv off idk 😔
kins 🦕@whimsfully
what scene do you think you won’t be able to stomach more than once when season two comes out? Mine will probably be Ilya mentioning his depression to Shane and how he wouldn’t end it as long as he could help it :(
English

@starboyrozzy81 Insulting Ilya for being in a weak team even though it's a direct result of his own plan, isolating him from people around him, taking him for granted and so on
English

@starboyrozzy81 He thinks Shane loves hockey more than him and that Shane's love is conditional. That's why he hides his depression, never complains, always takes more risks and makes more sacrifices. And Shane only confirms his belief, treating Ilya like dirty little secret
English

@starboyrozzy81 @hudtannie And this is when they are still just hooking up on and off - that's completely different than being in committed relationship
English

@hudtannie @EscapistMedea then id presume you understand the differences in sympathy for this moment but regardless of that Ilya did not receive sympathy from the fandom over this. He got shit on but the one time people criticize shane its all out war and “he never gets grace”
English

ur kidding right? Hrtwt threatens to chops his balls off every other day u must’ve missed the “ill beat the fuck out of ilya” tweets that would come out every day on here 😪
D@hudtannie
actually you know what, all jokes aside, when people had a realisation why ilya was acting this way, everyone were very sympathetic and understanding, but shane having similar scares is apparently too much and he’s a bad guy all of a sudden.
English

@starboyrozzy81 It only reinforces the abuse Ilya suffered and undoes all the work Shane did before, in HR. It probably hurts worse than Grigori's words, because Ilya adores Shane. It would be good to tie it to Grigori, to remind fans where Ilya's fears and insecurities come from
English

@starboyrozzy81 The root of Ilya's insecurities about not being a good enough captain (which is bullshit, we know his team respect and adore him) comes from Grigori's treatment. And Shane, that one person who is suppose to cherish and love Ilya more than anyone, basically says the same thing
English

@starboyrozzy81 The same can be done with weed comment, because at this point Shane basically treats Ilya the same way Grigori did - as lazy, bothersome, inconvinient. Make Ilya hear this weed smoking jab spoken in Grigori's voice. Or do a flashback with Grigori calling Ilya lazy
English

@EscapistMedea This would eat so hard an it adds a deeper level of angst a lot of readers/watchers refuse to bring up because they dont want to critique shane’s actions
English

@starboyrozzy81 In season 2, Ilya should be so funny and beautiful. And so sad. And Shane is the one being hard on him. Like a repeat of Irina's experience
English

@starboyrozzy81 The mom comment right after Ilya's dream about her. I hope we will see Ilya's dreams on the screen. I want Irina to haunt the narrative in a very tangible way. Sort of a comeback to how Ilya talk about her to Shane
English

@starboyrozzy81 He's a privilidged, rich citizen of a safe, democratic country. Even if his career went to hell, he would still be more privilidged than 90% people on this planet
English

@EscapistMedea YES the stakes are so much higher for ilya here!! If shane loses his career he is still safe in his country and his parents
English

@hopimylife7 @rozanovlore Canada is Shane's Russia? Like how? Do you know what Russia does to queer people? Ilya is an immigrant on a work visa, if he loses it, he will get deported. His situation is much worse than Shane. There are no legal consequances for Shane. They are for Ilya
English

@EscapistMedea @rozanovlore R u slow? Canada is shane russia..that's why ilya can come out bisexual and still be welcomed bec it's not his country they dgaf. And wn shane was outed in the same country he went through hell? R u slow?
English

@decofiesta21897 It kind of comes across this way. Everything in the relationship happens on Shane's timeline, with Shane's comfort in mind, according to Shane's whim. Ilya is either an afterthought or a bother. It is creepy and really toxic
English

@starboyrozzy81 They don't even like Shane. At least not the book Shane, probably not even the show one. They like Shane from fanfiction and their own headcannons, and that's why they try to absolve him from all the responsibility for his own action.
English

Shane fans when people rightfully criticize him for his insensitive actions:
jun🫧@hudbound
everyone in the book being given grace except for shane
English

@decofiesta21897 @rozanovlore He listens to his boyfriend telling him how he found his dead mother at the age of 12, starts foundation in her name, and then makes a comment like this. While they are literally talking about said foundation, to make it even more terrible
English

@PeePinG_27 @rozanovlore I noticed it too. Even the near death experience isn't enough to change his priorities.
English

@rozanovlore Also this part (just remembered).
At one hand Shane is distressed what if Ilya died but on the other hand when alive Ilya asked to call, he could've stopped at getting to the hotel. Needn't to add "can't do this with tms around" 🤦🏼 what does it say bout his priority?

English
