Gov. Ron DeSantis has directed U.S. and Florida flags to be flown at half-staff today, Friday, April 17, from sunrise to sunset, as a mark of respect for the late Coral Springs Vice Mayor Nancy Metayer, who was fatally shot in her home earlier this month.
The order, issued Thursday, April 16, via memorandum to Florida Director of Real Estate Management and Development Brian Fienemann and Coral Springs Mayor Scott Brook, applies to the State Capitol in Tallahassee as well as all local and state buildings, installations, and grounds throughout the City of Coral Springs.
A Celebration of Life event and viewing, hosted by Metayer’s family, will be held today, Friday, April 17, at Church by the Glades in Coral Springs. The service will be livestreamed for those unable to attend in person.

Flags were lowered at Coral Springs City Hall and other designated sites today as the community continues to mourn and honor her legacy.
