A classic military scifi novel highly praised.
Clear allegory of the real war that the writer himself survived.
The war however is just the background plot.
The focus is on protagonist's predicament to participate in an endless (& unreasonable) war and the impact of living through humanity's social changes over 1000 years period (blame the time dilation).
A book that I liked but not adored, Fast paced, smart on the way to deliver the main idea, full of action and with some interesting concepts on our bright (😅) future.
On the other hand, I consider the viewpoint on women's sexual obligations quite offensive.
The fixation with the technical details such as the size of the guns, their range, the exact temperature of the ground, velocities etc for me was superfluous.
