Deepest condolences to the family of Adi Widodo, an immigration officer who died in the line of duty at the North Jakarta immigration office on April 10th. Several other officers were also hurt in an attack by 3 Uzbeki detainees during an escape attempt.

Bali's governor has requested that Visa-on-Arrival facilities for Russian and Ukrainian nationals be ended. This follows a spate of bad news involving foreigners behaving badly in Bali. bali.tribunnews.com/2023/03/12/tin…

How are these Russkies getting away with this in Bali? If the local police are powerless, maybe @ListyoSigitP should do something about it?

Save the Children says 115,000 people, incl 38,450 children, remain homeless after earthquake in Cianjur, Indonesia. They face a "ticking time bomb" of disease and @SavetheChildren is calling for more aid to be urgently deployed

The European visa situation for Indonesians is absolutely shameful. So many stories of people missing their flights due to visa processing times.

@revolutia @nuicemedia Ex WNIs already qualify for a Permanent Stay Permit (ITAP), without the Rp 2B in the bank requirement. This has been the law since 2011 (UU 6, 2011), and has not been changed in UU Ciptaker (UU 11, 2020), which created the Second Home category.

Immigration office introduces the "2nd home visa" allowing foreigners to live and work in Indonesia for up to 10 years starting 60 days from now. The fact you need to prove you or your sponsor have Rp 2b in the bank makes us wonder who this is for. imigrasi.go.id/id/2022/10/25/…

@nuicemedia Ex-WNIs already qualify for a Permanent Stay Permit (ITAP), which does not require Rp 2B in the bank. See the current Pasal 54.d as updated in UU Ciptaker (No 11, 2020).

On second thought, this sounds pretty reasonable.

@DickShearman @BaliUpdateEd @travelfish The circular from DitJenIm says "wajib". This may change🤷‍♀️ However, from a legal standpoint it is consistent: In the latest Omnibus Law (UU CIPTAKER) there is no longer a retirement ITAS/P category, only a second home category, which requires the Rp 2B proof of funds.

The Proof of Funds in the amount of a minimum of Rp 2B can be either: 1) Personal funds at a state-owned bank 2) A "luxury" category property in Indonesia These requirements come into effect 60 days after the circular is released (Oct 25, 2022), so by Dec 24th 2022. (3/n)

🚨Attention Retirement ITAS/P holders: Since the retirement category has been rolled into the second home category, Immigration has ordered that those be converted to Second Home ITAS/P. This ITAS/P requires proof of funds of Rp 2B (~USD 130k)...👇 (1/n)
