He had WDC teammates all along his career. Also, Mercedes even in their prime always had those bogey tracks where it wasn’t the best car. Anyone who have watched the full sessions during those weekends would know this. But people just see the headlines, race results and make comments.

Schumacher at 41y was dogwalked by Rosberg, got 0 podium and got beat by Kubica in a Renault. Even with pirelli tyres MSC never felt comfortable and was slower/worse than Rosberg far from the best.
LH at 41yo is matching Leclerc and is obviously in top 3 of the best drivers atm
