So maybe I’ve been wrong about UB. I don’t always love it, but if it’s going to be the thing to get more of my friends and family to play, who am I to complain?

All in all though, I’ve had like 6 people start playing due to an IP they liked that got them in the game. Now I have my own little playgroup of people strictly because of Universes Beyond. And they’ve stuck around. They picked up other precons, built their own decks.

I managed to get my coworker addicted to Magic this week 😅 He’d never heard of it before but I found out he was super into TMNT. Bought him a pack and he spent the whole weekend doing a deep dive into Magic. Really started making me rethink how I feel about UB

I like the card but I don’t get the price. It fits thematically in my goad deck but I’m not playing it anywhere else. just seems wildly expensive. Is it really that popular?

Only hits one creature: You can only change the attack of a single creature. Not very useful if you’re playing against a token deck. If you use it as a combat trick, you’re better off with a fog or a piece of removal.

I apparently don’t understand MTG prices at all Misleading Signpost is over $15 at its cheapest printing! It’s a neat card but it doesn’t deserve that pricing It’s too niche to be this expensive (mini rant)

@TheTrinketMage Really liked the concept of this video! It’s a great way to conceptualize the speed of your deck and what you should be lookig for removal wise

Anyway I just think it’s a fun game mechanic. Long story short, I need someone to talk to me out of building another forced combat deck. Already have Baeloth/ Noble Heritage deck and Firkraag but I really want to start brewing Korona False God and mono-Red Kratos.

Politics: Might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but being forced into bad attacks leads to a lot of discussion. Lots of deals get made and I love the chaos when people can’t keep their end of the bargain.

Goad might be the most fun mechanic in Magic the Gathering Forced combat isn’t exactly new but the intro of Goad have really fleshed it out And it’s something Wizards keeps adding more and more to Here’s why every play group needs at least one forced combat deck in it

You can build a decent deck pretty quickly doing this. Curious if anyone else has little rules like this that help them build decks?

Edit Later If you have a big pile of cards to cut just leave them there. Taking a little break usually makes the cuts way easier when you come back. I also hear a glass of wine helps….

Building a Commander deck is a work of art But even art has rules and I’ve stolen a few over the years that help me brew faster. Super useful since I have like 40 decks I want to build So here are 4 rules I use to build good decks faster 1/
