Things have gotten financially rough for me again due to home issues, so i've added a few new unposted works to my Ko-Fi for anyone who wants to support me. Any support helps, even just sharing this post. Ko-Fi below.

Ending the year with a big Azur Lane ship. Not sure I remember Atago being that big though. Maybe it's winter weight!

I will happily call out that platforms flaws. I've done so numerous times on there. But after over a year of using it as my main platform the lows of that site do not compare to the lows I've felt here.

Part of me wishes they would go back to the non-public code system for actual artist account or at the very least use codes as a "vouch" system. That way profiles still need manual checking but they can have people vouching for them. I feel artists should actually be punished too if they hand out codes too willingly. imo they should go to people you trust, not people you've never met in your life.

ARTIST RECCS 🎨 アーティストプロモーション🖌
As much as I love Vgen, there's something that needs to be done with these tracers and scammers that lurk among the masses. I hate having to occasionally doubt an artist's work over there, promote them, and then get tagged telling me the artist isnt exactly doing the right thing.

I'm seeing people say this place is less hostile to 18+ content than the other site is. I'm just. Please you people cannot be this brain broken.

imo I think it's a few reasons. 1. Peoples brains have been fried by algorithms shoving a constant feed of 'content' at them so a slow feed seems genuinely unreasonable to them. These sites have actually become a lot of peoples main source of entertainment 2. People just struggle with non-algorithmic growth. People don't share each others stuff around as much, repost stuff, comment on stuff, etc. It was the same in 2019 but I think this site has punished organic interactions so much that people truly cannot fathom having to interact with each other to become known 3. Everyone's exhausted of years of "guys this is the new place for artists!!" which is alive for 2 weeks and then dies off. Pillowfort, Artfol, all those sites that everyone flocked to that just died off. I bet most people haven't even given Bluesky a real try just because we've seen this time and time again

as you know I will be active on bsky, I think there are some misconceptions, so here are my thoughts: I've been there on and off for the past few years since we as artists have gotten scared with this platform and I can tell you, it is active and people are still using it to this day and I've seen accounts grow slowly to tens of thousands of followers and many who exclusively use bsky so it has become a permanent place more and more each time we "panic". it's not becoming a ghost town every time whenever I post I get reactions, comments and engagements. while I'm not suddenly viral with tens of thousands of likes, it's not like the new algo here on X is gonna give that kinda boost anymore, bsky gives a steady consistent engagement as you build your following as for going there and finding there isn't content due to a lack of centralized algorithm - follow all your fav creators who have accounts there, (there is also a sky bridge extension tool that makes it easy to find accounts who you are following on X), then make use of the feeds, there are basic functional algorithms, namely after following a lot of your fav accounts, the easiest is Discover, and Popular with Friends by default and next find the custom feed called For You people have been posting it a lot, and pin it to your home feeds. there are also countless custom feeds you can follow and pin. and u can even make your own that follows certain hashtags etc. and we also have starter packs like the one I have you can find on my profile that provides you with a curated group of cool accounts to follow, personally I've been collecting anime artists in my pack. you can also still create lists of accounts and you can view a feed of these groupings of accounts you want to keep an eye on and yes, pin it to home feed as well. yes there's even comedians and shit posters who you can follow and curate your basic algorithm feeds to be as you need since bsky is more and more active beyond your imagination it is actually viable to start using it and working on a transition. I know I'll still be here on x but as my acc on bsky grows and becomes viable I will be stepping more and more over only issue is you have to add suggestive or nudity filters and labels there, but people viewing that content will likely have turned off the filter and see your art fine with a less algorithmic experience it also means you can freely tweet anything you like, use hashtags, links, and post and repost often to make use of chronological recency freely so I do encourage you to bsky anyway, it's remaining viable at least as a parallel to use or as an alt wip thoughts account etc

I know I said forbidden words and had an aggressive tone so this will likely be buried in peoples feeds and probably slap my "twitter score" down a bunch but just. I'm so tired. I desperately want 2019 Twitter back. It was so much nicer. x.com/FancyPlanks/st…

Seeing people equate BSky and this place drives me genuinely nuts because it's like comparing a smoldering fire to a blazing inferno sat outside your front door. I'm not a fediverse bro. I won't sit here and act like it is a perfect site with zero flaws because that's how people with far too much put into something talk. BSky's management is not good and often immature. They're too heavy handed when it comes to shielding people from NSFW content at first, though you can turn all those protections off. It lacks features everyone is used to. But oh my God to act like it is as bad as this place is just delusional. For a start you should not use its default discovery tools. It has feeds like "Popular with Friends" which is a feed purely based on what the people you follow are liking. There are many user created feeds and starter packs as well making finding what you want to see on that site far easier. Second is the amount of constant ragebait and dooming over there is just so much less than over here. When I log onto this site I am bombarded with a constant stream of people being negative or seeking outrage over dumb things that do not matter. It's the biggest reason I just outright stopped using this place for ages because I literally could not handle it. Don't get me wrong people still attempt it over on BSky but the difference is you can just mute that person or key words and it generally fades away. I so rarely see that type of stuff over there vs how much of it I see here. Then there's the fact that people actually see your stuff over on BSky as long as they follow you. There is no forcing you to constantly post to keep some invisible machine happy otherwise you get banished into the never ending void and have to pretty much make a new account just at a hope of recovery. I can not post for a month, come back and still get the same reach as normal over there. A lot of this I genuinely feel comes from the fact that modern social media is designed to break peoples brains into getting addicted to this constant stream of posts targeted to get the biggest reaction out of them. If you were to drop 2019 Twitter back into peoples hands I can guarantee most would complain that the site is worse. These sites weren't meant to be a core focus of your day, they were meant to be something you scroll when you have a little downtime just to see what people are up to. That used to be the point of old Twitter! All these algorithms is also why people just cannot fathom how you are supposed to grow on a site that is not algorithm focused anymore as well. They can't process that to have reach you have to actually do the social part of the site and can't just post with a hyper algorithmic caption and hope that the algorithm randomly boosts it. That's another problem as well. I see people say "well at least here posts can take off" but the reality is you're chasing a dream at that point. A site where you get more consistent interactions is better than one where most of your posts bomb except for one that randomly goes viral. If you are an artist that relies on social media for income then you need to be posting on places where your interactions favor consistency over luck. There's no use going "well sometimes my art gets 5k likes" when most posts get a hundred if you're lucky and when it's time to announce a sale that post gets seen by 10 people. The way people defend this place you would genuinely believe they have a financial investment put into it. This place will never improve if they don't believe that you will ever leave. When you sit there going "umm no matter what this place does I am not moving somewhere else" all you're doing is signalling that they can make the site as awful as they want because they know you're stuck here. At the bare minimum you need to be making your anger known to them. If you spend all your time going "well this sucks but it's still better than the alternative!" that also just tells them they can make as awful an update as they want because you are still basically advertising that this is the best place for people. It is so tiring seeing this loop go on and on and on and seeing the same people going "why does it keep getting worse" while also making it clear that they are fine with it getting worse.
