Starting in June 2026, Roblox will be introducing two new types of accounts: Roblox Kids for users ages 5 to 8 and Roblox Select for users ages 9 to 15. Each account type will have limited access to certain features for safety.

Game owners and moderators can now read all chats sent in any server, regardless of age group. This new setting can be toggled by enabling the "Read-only chat for moderation" permission to roles with moderator status.

Starting today, completing an Age Check or ID Verification is now required to chat with other users on Roblox.
Below is a guide to who each age group can and cannot chat with. Age-checked users 13+ can chat freely with Trusted Connections.

Beginning early 2026, all Roblox users will be required to do an age check though Age Estimation or ID Verification to access all forms of chatting on the platform. Once verified, you will only be able to chat with users in the same age group.

Yesterday I had the insane opportunity to talk about the work I’ve been doing on @Roblox for the last 14 years of my life in front of Congress and various staff in Washington, D.C.!
I talked about what we’ve built at @PlayVector3 and the economic value it’s provided through skill development and job creation.
Genuinely an unforgettable day and I got to meet so many people I’m proud to now call friends!
I love talking about Roblox to anyone who will listen, just never thought it’d be the government…

Roblox just announced MASSIVE safety changes.
🚨 Kids will soon be blocked from chatting with adults and anyone outside of their “age groups”.
No in-game chat, no messages, etc. If you’re a kid, you’ll only be able to talk with kids around your age.
