The effects of cancer treatment on smell and taste are often overlooked but significant. Chemo can stop taste bud and smell cell reproduction, and voice box surgery may eliminate the ability to perceive flavour. Please RT to help amplify our message this #AnosmiaAwarenessDay

Did you know that a loss of smell is called anosmia? Anosmia is experienced by 1 in 20 people in the UK. You can lose your sense of smell temporarily or permanently. You can find more information about anosmia on the Fifth Sense website. fifthsense.org.uk

As many as 5% of people in the UK live with #anosmia, yet there are very few treatments, little research into finding new ones and a lack of knowledge amongst healthcare professionals. Please join us in supporting @FifthSenseUK this #AnosmiaAwarenessDay to raise awareness.

Research shows that 1 in 5 people with a TBI develop a smell and/or taste disorder, which can lead to illness, poorer mental health, and compromised safety. That’s why we’re supporting @FifthSenseUK this #AnosmiaAwarenessDay to help raise awareness of smell impairments.
