Thank you so much @PyroScience for sponsoring our new project called FieldResp🥳 We were dreaming of building a field #respirometry station for years. Now, due to your cutting-edge DO sensors that can be easily integrated with open electronics modules, all our dreams come true!

Great customisation of PumpResp, @hugomflavio! Here you might see the beauty of open electronics. If an open hardware device partly matches your experimental needs, just modify it: add or replace components (e.g. buttons or connectors), change the code and make a nice enclosure!

@hugomflavio We use the right one in PumpResp and SwimResp DIY controllers. But because both devices are open-source equipment based on @Arduino, you can easily modify the code and get the left data structure.

@elliott_schmidt Not yet, try to do it this month (video instructions in production).

@FishResp Did information on how to construct these chambers ever get released somewhere?...

These four homemade #respirometry chambers cost less than 200€ in total + one week of work. They are suitable for fish from 0.5g to 500g and have a robust design. A commercial alternative for the same kit: >3000€ That is how #DIY approach releases money for actual research🤑

Presenting my own prototypes in open electronics and sharing projects of other research engineers are essential parts of my R&D life. Here, I demonstrate the latest open-source inventions designed for biologists at @TampereUni (Finland).

NOTE, the company @Pyro_Science is our sponsor! Please do not mix two similar accounts up as I did in the previous tweet🤦

@LoTeulier Sure thing! It is designed for brushed DC motors up to 24V including. But based on that, the version for brushless motors can be created as well.

@FishResp Hi Serguey, I’m still working on fish swimming performance and your device looks really cool! Congrats! We should stay in touch to talk about your project!

We have finally reached the point when the hardware development & testing stage is over. It is time for creating assembly instructions and writing a methodological paper. Stay tuned🐠#respirometry NOTE that the modules PumpResp and SwimResp are @Pyro_Science-friendly as well😉

6/6: These tests were done on an almost entirely home-built #respirometry system, with pump controllers by tech wizard @Morozov_science (@FishResp)(photos), and with 3D printed chamber parts from @HeidrikurB. Check their stuff out if you're interested in home-built systems!
