This has grown on me a LOT since it was released. I think I initially (and unfairly) saw it as a poorer version of 'Let England Shake', but time has changed my mind.
'The Wheel' in particular is one of her most powerful & impactful songs.

My mum didn't change her surname purely because she didn't want to and my dad didn't care because he's not a wanker, so that's also possible.
(My sister and her partner also gave their kids my sister's surname so...)

@poetryslam78 That’s a good point that I hadn’t even considered - you’re absolutely right. The vast majority of the harm is clearly from men, directed at women, but yeah, it’s insidious & poisons everything it touches.

9 literature reviews completed, weeks to go, starting the rough draft of my massive research project on how misogyny in online gaming impacts women's mental health. There's not a lot of research, I might have to supplement with a survey/interviews of my own.

@poetryslam78 That makes a lot of sense. It’s a big topic to take on, but important and very relevant. Hopefully understanding the causes and effects can go some way to getting rid of it. Whatever form it takes, misogyny is not something ANYONE should be accepting of.

@FiveOverThree It has similar negative mental health outcomes to living with an abusive partner. It surprises me that it's called gendered toxicity when it more closely resembles emotional abuse. I'm including psychological, sociological, and anthropological focuses as well.
