I am actually tired of this new "friend requirement". A lot of people have now grown up in an age where you have technology 99% of the day. But it was not always like that. Just because I have internet access at my finger tips does not mean I should be responding or checking messages religiously just to keep a friendship. That is toxic, unrealistic, and not okay. I have a job, responsibilities, animals, cleaning and more. Everyone is busy, some more than others. But just because I am not actively working every second of the day does not mean a "friend" should require a response. If your requirements for a friendship is to have a friend religiously message you every day and any time you are free... That is not a friendship. That is control. And it is not okay. I am allowed to have time where I am not responding to people. I am also allowed to respond to messages when I can. I am allowed to have a life that is outside of my friendship. Just because we now have internet access 24/7 does not mean people do. If you are one who has these expectations, take a moment to reflect on why you require someone to constantly be talking to you. Why must someone commit to you at such an unhealthy level to be considered a friend? It is obsessive. It is not okay. I have had someone be a "friend" and require this. I thought I was the problem. They thought I needed to grow up and be an adult. Something is not right when "being an adult" means talking to someone at every possible moment. Get off the internet kids.
