@pengersxi @Hepworthclare Not enough room for a proper discussion! I do appreciate you being a real person and taking time to talk. Let's shake hands and wish each other all the best in somewhat uncertain times.

@FluddePeter @Hepworthclare All ten pledges broken is a good start. If you ran an organisation, would you hire the best friend of the world's most notorious paedophile and operator of a political blackmailing operation, or would you overlook that?

@pengersxi @Hepworthclare I do see your point, I just don't share the premise - I doubt KS saw it like that. M was a recognized heavyweight in Labour and abroad, and yes - well in with US governing circles. It seemed worth giving him another run, on a short leash (which was the FO advice) to schmooz Trump

@pengersxi @Hepworthclare OK, I know I shouldn't - internet discussions can be stressful! 1. KS's "lies": I've not heard a convincing example 2. I respect your belief but we'll have to differ - M's treachery came out after his appointment. 3. Good point - only I'd say it's M's backers with the power

@FluddePeter @Hepworthclare Firstly, Keir Starmer has a history of repeatedly lying. Secondly, nobody else in this country would have appointed Mandelson following the Epstein files. Thirdly, Mandelson holds more power than Starmer in this dynamic. That's why he got the job. Starmer isn't in control.

@pengersxi @Hepworthclare I do see your point, and understand your position though I don’t share it. For me, KS is a good man doing a good job; M is clearly both treacherous and corrupt: why is KS’s probity in question, and not M’s ? Best wishes

@FluddePeter @Hepworthclare Nope. All you have to do is not appoint the best friend of the world's most infamous nonce. We know he was appointed due to the power he holds in the Labour group, but the point is, tbis should be a simple decision.

@MHartleyJones With respect, it certainly is about Mandelson, though his friends want to convince us it isn't. He seems to have given away state secrets to a foreign agent, quite a serious offence for a serving minister. Mandelson betrayed the Prime Minister's trust, not the other way round.

“The danger for Sir Keir is that the argument has moved on. As Labour’s Sarah Champion observed, people don’t like the prime minister on the doorstep. That is not about Lord Mandelson. It is about Sir Keir.” theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

@pengersxi @Hepworthclare True, though it's odd that people seem more worked up about a regrettable appointment than the treachery of the man who made it regrettable. Giving away state secrets to a foreign agent is a serious crime, but from the headlines you'd think it was Mr Starmer's fault!

@Hepworthclare It is much easier if you don't score horrendous own goals like appointing the best friend of the world's most notorious paedophile to a highly important government role.

@Hepworthclare This isn't politics. State capture bypasses elections and all the apparatus of consent and goes straight for the top, by any means. Its logical extreme is the killing of leaders as we have seen in Iran. Not all assassinations are by rifle and bomb. Only a theory.

It doesn’t get anymore desperate than Channel 4 News dragging out Diane Abbott sniggering and sneering to run down the PM,who next Claire Short I mean this media onslaught is getting out of hand and threatening our very Democracy in trying to remove a Democratically elected PM.

@AlexTaylorNews It's a technique - keep repeating the language of crisis and disgrace to conjure a phantom fact and then demand action; they do a similar thing to countries - "ignore the evidence of your own eyes and listen to us -Country A is a terrorist pariah state so we must destroy it"

I'm no fan of Starmer. He's Mr Zero Charisma and you can find loads of my tweets criticizing his ludicrous Brexit stance, 𝒃𝒖𝒕 I genuinely don't get the current level of UK media and political obsession about 𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒏 he knew, 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 he knew and 𝒘𝒉𝒐 told him what & when about Mandelson. Everyone with half a brain-cell could figure Mandelson would be a risky appointment, vetting or no vetting. The man was sacked twice for dodgy dealings by Blair FFS ! You can however maybe see why sending a flawed character like Mandelson might have appeared a (it turns out very unwise) solution to deal with the corrupt mafia-crook currently in the White House (desperate times etc), but does it deserve all this ? I dunno. If just 10% of the attention this is getting was turned on the people who actually 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐝 the Epstein crimes ? I stand to be enlightened and I'm sure I'll get an earful from Starmer's many vocal adversaries but for once I just don't get why the 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬 is 𝒔𝒖𝒄𝒉 a thing ...

At heart what’s depressing me is that MSM are fighting tooth and nail against the first viable government and leader we’ve seen for decades. Are we really going to allow 4 or 5 non dom billionaire media barons dictate a Farage government ? So they pay less tax ? Seriously ? 😱

@JohnSimpsonNews Mr Simpson, Is it the Iranians who twist and turn? Their opponents invent different war aims by the hour, view negotiations as an opportunity to attack and use language at which even Big Brother might balk - e.g. freeing people means killing them and erasing their civilization.

As Trump’s team are finding, Iranian officials are hard to negotiate with. Just when you think you’ve nailed them down, they twist and turn and you’ve got nothing. Professional US negotiators have found them hard to deal with. The current US team is finding it a lot harder.

Ecotricity did it - after four years of campaigning to reform our energy market by ‘breaking the link’ - our government just announced it will. Our bills will be lower, so will inflation and bank lending rates, our economy bigger and stronger. Windfall profits will also be lower, energy company shares are taking a battering now - on this news.

Decent man, I am sure. His appointment of Mandelson was so very obviously totally flawed from the outset and his judgement therefore has been shown to be 180° out. I think he should very carefully consider his position.

Decent man, bloody good PM. Still two steps ahead of the media and the weasels who pretend they’re the opposition. #StandingWithStarmer #DontBelieveTheMedia

Dear Viviane, Thank you for your strength and determination. Your posts regarding Mr Starmer and Labour's qualities and achievements are greatly appreciated, especially while every UK news organization seems to be based in a parallel universe, one which means no good to the UK.
