The young 19 year old, Dutch, fullback is already a star there, even being captain in some games. He’s had an injury this season, but he’s still a great player and talent. Offensively he is very involved with 0.33 assists from 0.15 xA, 1.22 chances created with 0.33 being big chances, 0.55 successful crosses and 8+ progressive carries per 90. Part of why he’s that involved is because he’s just really comfortable on the ball, his 35.2 successful passes on 86.4%, 67.5 touches and only 0.78 dispossessions per 90 reflect that. Part of why Read creates so many chances is because he’s good at getting into the box, with 4.44 touches in the opposition box, as well as his 1.44 shots and 0.11 xG per 90, showing he’s always in and around it. As for the defensive side, Read fights, using his IQ and speed. With 6.03 duels won on 69.6%, 2.26 tackles, 1.51 interceptions and 4.9 recoveries. With that being said, Read is fairly small at 5’9 with a slight frame, so aerially he’s gets overwhelmed and he can get bullied in physical duels. He’s still young so there’s a big chance he improves a lot in years to come, so if Liverpool are searching for a right back of Read’s profile, he should probably be top of the list.
