Neue Studie mit @FossilExit: Die Abbaupläne in der #Lausitz müssen klar reduziert werden wenn DE sein #CO2budget einhalten möchte. Eine Reduktion zwischen 49 und 61% sind demnach nötig um der Region eine wirtschaftlich-sinnvolle und klimasensible Transformation zu ermöglichen. 🧵

Eine neu veröffentlichte @FossilExit Studie zeigt: Wenn wir 1,5°C einhalten wollen, müssen die Abbauflächen der Braunkohle in der Lausitz um mehr als 50% reduziert werden. Angesichts der Landtagswahlen brauchen wir von der Politik daher konsequenten Klimaschutz statt Populismus!

4/4 Baselines often underestimate the rapid development of renewable energy but overestimate coal consumption and #CCS scaling. This is relevant, as baselines tend to be crucial reference points, influencing the scale and costs of the #coaltransition in models. #energytwitter

3/4 Scenarios post-AR5 have shifted towards the first archetype (Phase-out), partly due to cost updates for renewable technologies. However, no evidence of changes in model assumptions was found. Updates are needed to capture well changes in climate science, technology & policy.
