#FreeSpeech already has limits--as spelled out in our Bill of Rights and Constitution. And as interpreted by our #SCOTUS--we do not need Mrs. Macron to tell us about freedom. Free speech does not need to be limited. It needs to be debated, engaged, and civil.

18-year-old Melika Azizi has been executed by the Islamic Regime in Iran under the charge of being an "Enemy of God" (Moharebeh). She was violently arrested during the nationwide January protests in the city of Masal, Gilan Province of Iran, following her participation in protests against the Islamic Regime. Melika was held in Lakan Prison in Rasht, where she was subjected to physical abuse and denied contact with her family, who also faced pressure by the Islamic regime's security forces. Rest in Peace, Melika 🙏💔

A heartbreaking and important reminder of the cost of war paid by US service members, and their spouses, parents, friends, siblings, and loved ones left behind: "'I don’t think anyone who has lost a family member in war can look at any number of casualties and not feel like it’s already too much.' .... The scars left behind from that kind of loss, she said, are difficult to understand for anyone who isn’t 'receiving that knock on the door or being handed that folded flag.'" theatlantic.com/national-secur…

The transatlantic slave trade was a crime against humanity that struck at the core of personhood, broke up families & devastated communities. Let us reject the false narrative of racial difference & fully commit to human rights, equality & the inherent worth of every person.

For 100 years, they have stood watch, for names we will never know. In 1921, an unknown American soldier was laid to rest at Arlington, chosen to represent every service member lost without identification. At first, the tomb wasn’t guarded. Visitors came and went freely, sometimes treating it more like a destination than a sacred place. That changed on March 24, 1926. Concerned by the lack of respect, Army leadership ordered a permanent military guard. And for a century since, the soldiers of the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment—The Old Guard—have carried that responsibility. Through rain and snow. Day and night. 365 days a year. Under strict conditions. They are precise, intentional, and unwavering. Because this isn’t just a tomb. It’s a promise: that those who gave everything, even without a name, will never be forgotten. Happy Birthday to the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment. Thank you for your dedication for the last 100 years.

On National Medal of Honor Day, we honor heroes who earned the highest award for valor. Here’s one Army story every American should know: Maj. Audie Murphy.
U.S. Army@USArmy

Outgunned and outnumbered, he fought off a German assault alone—on top of a burning tank destroyer. Maj. Audie Murphy is a legend in U.S. military and Hollywood history. This is the story of WWII’s most decorated American Soldier—and how he earned the Medal of Honor.

National Medal of Honor Day Today, on the anniversary of the awarding of the first Medals of Honor, we celebrate the courage, sacrifice, and patriotism which connect all recipients of the medal. We honor the Marines who have received this award for their extraordinary heroism, who distinguished themselves through acts of gallantry at the risk of life above and beyond the call of duty. Today, on National Medal of Honor Day, we honor heroes like Master Sergeant Gary Gordon, a native of Lincoln, Maine. During the Battle of Mogadishu, he volunteered—alongside Randy Shughart—to land at the site of a downed helicopter, fully aware of the overwhelming danger. Together, they held off hostile forces and protected the wounded pilot, Chief Warrant Officer Michael Durant, whose survival was made possible by their actions. Master Sergeant Gordon gave his life defending his fellow soldier and was posthumously awarded our nation’s highest military honor. Last Memorial Day, I visited his memorial in Lincoln to pay tribute to his remarkable courage, and to honor all who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

On National Medal of Honor Day, we pause to honor the extraordinary courage and warrior spirit of the recipients of our nation's highest military valor award. The Medal of Honor was first authorized in 1861, and since that time, only a small number of service members have received this recognition. More than 125 members of the National Guard received this peak distinction. Let us, on this day, and every day, recommit ourselves to the high standard set by these extraordinary individuals and honor their memory through our National Guard service.
