Un Fokker 100 de Régional qui effectuait un vol entre Pau et Paris CDG avec 50 passagers et 4 membres d’équipage, est sorti de la piste lors de son décollage.
L’appareil venait de quitter le sol lorsqu’il perdit de la puissance sur l’un de ses deux moteurs.
Après avoir traversé le grillage de protection de l'aéroport, l'avion percuta une camionnette qui circulait sur une route. Le conducteur a été tué sur le coup.
Les passagers et membres de l'équipage ont été secoués et choqués mais n'ont pas été blessés.
