Happy Gardening New Year!

It's our annual Christmas Concert with the Friends of Whinfell Quarry Garden at Whirlow Brook Hall on Monday 15th December 5-6pm. The Salvation Army will play carols and a collection will be held for all the great work they do. Mulled wine and mince pies will be served. #carols

Despite the rain, we had an incredible turnout today for our hedge planting session for #NationalTreeWeek. We had around 40 volunteers (the most ever) including a lovely group from The Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association (AMYA) who regularly volunteer in parks in Sheffield.

Fancy getting involved? We are holding an Open Morning in our Community Orchard next Saturday 29th from 10.00am. Come along to plant a native hedge, tools provided or bring your own. Or come along for a chat to find out more and how to get involved. Hot drinks and cake provided

Our final Sounds of Summer concert is this Sunday 28th September 3-5pm. Bring a chair/blanket, a picnic, and drinks. Featuring the fabulous 20ft Squid Band and Michael Richards and Kiri Smith. Free but donations appreciated to support our work in the park. #musicinthepark

We have a new handrail for those steep steps in the bottom car park, courtesy of Andrew Renwick, Director of Ridgeway Forge Ltd. Andrew kindly donated the handrail and we are very grateful- it looks great and it will hopefully stop any accidents happening in the future.

Community Orchard work morning this Saturday 21 June. Fancy helping out? Meet by the gardener’s store at 9.30am. We’ll be clearing scrub, brambles and weeds and maybe working on the dead hedge. Come and join us!
