The women’s reservation bill has fallen in Parliament. I don’t think the govt will mind this outcome too much.
Since the primary goal was optics, the bill failing is actually even better optics. From now on, in every rally and bhashan, the PM will say that the opposition is anti-women, they didn’t let the bill pass.

Guess how pro-Pakistanis living in India would have reacted if India were mediating peace between the US and Iran, and the Indian PM had tweeted this draft without removing the top line?
You already know. They would have called him a slave, a puppet of the US, for doing exactly what Washington instructed. Because that’s precisely what this tweet reflects. The Pakistani PM was told to post it by the Americans, and he complied, only to foolishly publish it without deleting the top line.
And yet, pro-Pakistani voices in India are hailing Pakistan as part of a “new world order,” despite the fact that Pakistan was chosen not out of respect, influence, or diplomatic weight, but because it readily follows whatever Trump directs. It is a compliant intermediary, selected precisely because it has consistently offered unquestioning service to the US, obedience dressed up as diplomacy.
This isn’t the W some people think it is. It’s understandable if Pakistanis see it that way, but what explains those holding Indian passports? Is the resentment toward India so deep that they are eager to look up to Pakistan instead?

The world is lauding Pakistan for mediating a ceasefire through a war that could have unleashed the worst kind of catastrophe. Trump who spoke the language of ending the Iranian civilisation till last night is now speaking the language of peace. It is a sobering moment for India that now needs to really work on its foreign policy and instead of pleasing domestic actors needs to think of long term goals and not grandstanding in elections. Propaganda films might win us elections but not elevate our status as vishwaguru in world politics
