In John Wick: Chapter 4, Keanu's killing spree continues, but in this video, I answer the question: Should we still care? youtu.be/MFfvWyhUYYI

@WhitneyHemsath Bottom of a movie theater trash can, without the liner. Smelled like something died in there.

What are some of the worst smells you've ever encountered? (Keep it PG please, this is research for a MG book)

@sabinaposts CMOS says only cap the first word when a colon introduces two or more sentences, speech in dialogue, or a quotation or question. So I recommend capping in this case.

Grammar twitter, please help me out. Which is correct in a novel: I remember thinking: Is this my life now? I remember thinking: is this my life now? (my vote is for the latter)

Books like Susanna Clarke's Piranesi illustrate how we can break the "rules" of writing to great effect—if we do so with clarity and purpose. youtu.be/JuK6po6uMSA

Since #writingtips is trending, here's one: don't worry so much about memorizing the "rules." Instead, figure out when to ask questions and where to look for answers. Buy a style guide and train your eye to spot issues that might be errors. When in doubt, look it up!

@dustychipura Definitely the hyperfocus. I didn't realize until adulthood that it wasn't considered "normal" to latch onto one topic or activity and want to do nothing else to the detriment of important things like eating and sleeping.

#ADHD question of the day: If you were late-diagnosed ADHD or auDHD or autistic, whats the one thing you used to do as a kid where you were like "can't believe they missed that 🤦‍♀️ ...."?

@thaddeusbooks This claim also ignores every genre other than action, thriller, and horror. What about romance? Are you worried that the characters are going to die in a romcom? Same principle applies for stories where you know the character IS going to die.

I keep hearing that there can be no dramatic tension when you know a character is going to live, and it pisses me off every time. But there are examples of this being true: empty climaxes with nothing at stake but who wins the fight, and that's a foregone confusing.

@AuthorGaylord Right? There's skin and muscle and connective tissue in there too. Plus, choosing a "happy" hippo picture does not make them less terrifying.

@AlineaEditorial @SanderlingEdit Same. They both offer solid benefits, but EFA seems to have a more active job board. The email notifications about new projects are handy too.

@KupcakeProse Not sure how you feel about Star Wars, but Andor is phenomenal. Leaves the space wizards behind and tells a boots-on-the-ground story of rebellion.
