Hancock County: Gregory Bridge Company recently opened the new bridge on Water Works Rd. to traffic! Before this project, the road had been closed for years because the old wooden bridge at this location was unsafe.

Lane closures will begin at 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 10 and last through Sunday afternoon, April 12. Expect delays and drive with caution when navigating the work zone.

Milledgeville: Reeves Construction Company has scheduled weekend lane closures to work on the US 441 resurfacing project. The US 441 and SR 22 intersection will be affected. Crews will work in the highlighted areas shown below.

Students in the Washington County HS Heavy Equipment Operator program visited our office in Tennille for their capstone exam. They practiced throughout the school year on simulators before operating real excavators and bulldozers. Every student passed and earned a certificate!

Dodge County: SR 257 will close at Gum Swamp Creek on Monday, April 6 for a bridge replacement project. The road is expected to reopen in December. Detour (from Empire to Chester): US 23 north to SR 126, SR 126 east to SR 257

Bleckley/Laurens County: SR 26 will be repaved between Cochran and US 80. East Coast Asphalt, LLC plans to begin work on Monday, April 6. Please use caution when navigating the work zone. Slow down and watch for workers.

Georgia DOT will restrict construction-related lane closures on interstates and major state routes leading to Augusta from Wednesday, April 1 through Monday, April 13. During this time, we will also send HERO units and additional CHAMP units to the Augusta area.

Payne Rd. will also close until about mid-May, weather permitting, so the contractor can raise the height of the road.

Laurens County: A traffic shift and road closure have been scheduled for Tuesday, March 31 as part of the US 441 widening project. Traffic on US 441 will be shifted to the new northbound side of the road from the southern end of the project to the bridge.

Warren County: The new bridge on Ogeechee River Road at Long Creek has opened to traffic!

Detour: SR 80 south to I-20, I-20 east to Exit 172/US 78, US 78 north to SR 80.

Wilkes County: A new bridge on Big Cedar Rd. over Rocky Creek opened to traffic this week. On Monday, March 9, the bridge on SR 80 over Little River is scheduled to close for a bridge replacement project. The closure is expected to last about nine months.

Drivers are encouraged to use other exits to navigate to US 278, as Exit 165 may back up. Please note, Georgia DOT is not responsible for investigating or cleaning up the crash site. Up-to-date information about this closure will be available via @511Georgia.

Georgia DOT is in the process of setting up a detour. The westbound on-ramps are being shut down at Exit 160 and Exit 165. Detour: take Exit 165, follow SR 80 south to Warrenton, follow US 278 north to I-20/Exit 154.

WARREN COUNTY, Ga. - All westbound lanes of Interstate 20 are closed near milepost 156 due to a crash involving a truck carrying liquid nitrogen. I-20 westbound is expected to be closed for multiple hours as crews clean up the area.

The road will be reopened by close of business on Wednesday. A plate will be installed at the work site. On Thursday morning, crews will close the road again to continue making repairs. Detour: SR 24 spur/Ward Rd. south to US 441, US 441 north to US 278/SR 12/South Main St.

MADISON: ROAD CLOSING FOR PIPE REPLACEMENT Crews are preparing to close US 278/SR 12/South Main St. in Madison near SR 24 Spur/Ward Rd. The pipe currently under the road at this location will be removed and replaced.
