A9: Math class is not often linked w/ kids learning through student led discussions. But Vygotsky’s theory states that this is the best way for S’s to learn. Math class CAN and SHOULD be restructured around open discourse and instructional conversation. #GPSCulturallyResponsive

A6b S’s can sniff out fake or excessive flattery. They don’t need teachers who sugarcoat their academic weaknesses. They need T’s who directly address these weaknesses and provide supportive yet demanding environments in which to work towards proficiency #GPSCulturallyResponsive

A3a: The amygdala sends out stress signals when S’s experience an environment that is hostile/unwelcoming. These signals make it impossible for S’s to learn. Only when S’s feel safe/welcome in a classroom will the amygdala calm + allow learning to occur. #gpsculturallyresponsive
