Behold the continued transformation of healthcare services in Machakos County, as healthcare transformation remains at the center of my development agenda. I am committed to building a strong, efficient, and responsive health system that guarantees quality, accessible, and dignified care for every resident.
We have rolled out advanced laboratory systems, modern theatre equipment, and a state-of-the-art 128-slice CT scanner, building on our earlier progress from a 16-slice Philips CT scan to a 64-slice Anke CT scan, significantly improving diagnostic accuracy and reducing referrals outside the county.
Phase 1 of this rollout includes ten fully equipped operating theatres to expand surgical capacity across multiple specialties, and ten modern laboratory units to strengthen diagnostics, disease surveillance, and research through over 110 different tests.
This programme is being implemented through the supply, distribution, and installation of modern medical equipment across our Level 3 and Level 4 facilities, including Masinga, Mwala, and Matuu Level 4 Hospitals. Distribution is taking place today, while installation will commence tomorrow.
The equipment will be deployed to key facilities including Machakos County Teaching and Referral Hospital, where five theatres are being equipped, Kangundo Level 4 Hospital, laboratories at Masinga Level 4, Mavoko Level 4, and Masii Level 4 Hospitals, as well as Kathiani Sub-County Hospital.
Machakos leads!

In my office today, I flagged off the distribution of modern medical equipment to key health facilities across the county; A major milestone in ensuring that our hospitals enhance service delivery, improving patient outcomes.
The equipment include a 128 slice CT scan machine, modern operating theatre systems that have sedation workstations, operating tables, and surgical lights, as well as advanced laboratory equipment to strengthen diagnostics, disease surveillance and research.
These will be distributed to key facilities including Machakos County Teaching and Referral Hospital, where five theatres are being equipped, Kangundo Level 4 Hospital theatre, laboratories at Masinga Level 4, Mavoko Level 4, and Masii Level 4, as well as Kathiani Sub-County Hospital.
Through this investment, we are strengthening our healthcare system, expanding access to critical services, and ensuring that our people receive timely, quality, and dignified care closer to their homes.

A healthy population is the backbone of a thriving and productive county, and I remain committed to ensuring that every resident of Machakos has access to quality, affordable, and timely healthcare services.
I have inspected key medical equipment that is strengthening service delivery in our health facilities, including the 128-slice CT scanner, digital X-ray machines, ultrasound systems, ICU ventilators, and other critical diagnostic and theatre equipment.
These modern technologies are significantly improving our capacity for early detection, accurate diagnosis, and effective treatment.
I am pleased that with these investments, we are steadily reducing the need for referrals outside the county and ensuring that our people access specialized care closer to home.

Hosted the National Assembly Trade, Industry and Cooperatives Committee, led by Chairperson Robert Gichimu, alongside Machakos County MP Hon. Joyce Kamene Kasimbi, during a public participation exercise on the proposed National Hawkers Protection Law.
The proposed law seeks to protect hawkers by ensuring fair trading spaces, shielding them from harassment and unlawful evictions, promoting access to affordable licenses, and creating a more structured and supportive business environment for small-scale traders to thrive and grow their livelihoods.

Since I assumed office as governor, we have steadily increased the bursary fund from KSh 80 million in the first year to KSh 120 million in subsequent years, and next year we plan to raise it to KSh 160 million. This programme continues to open doors for needy students and strengthen access to quality education across the county.

Education is the foundation upon which we build a brighter and more prosperous future.
That is why my administration has made deliberate and impactful investments in the Department of Education. We have built over 250 modern classrooms, employed qualified ECDE teachers, and ensured our young learners receive nutritious meals daily, with milk served twice a week. We have also provided adequate learning materials to support a conducive learning environment.
Our efforts are bearing fruit, with enrolment rising to over 47,000 learners across the county. We have further strengthened early childhood development through the expansion of daycare services, giving our children a strong and nurturing start.
In addition, over the last three years, we have disbursed more than Ksh 360 million in bursaries, supporting over 100,000 needy students across Machakos County to access and continue their education.

Capacity building in public service is key to building a responsive, efficient, and accountable workforce. That is why, as the county government of Machakos, we have rolled out a comprehensive training programme for our staff, which by the end will see all of them equipped with essential skills and knowledge.
This initiative will enable them to enhance service delivery, uphold integrity, manage public resources effectively, and respond better to the needs of our people.
