Just read “Eleven Minutes: A Phone Call with Kobe Bryant” by @JasonReynolds83 to my 10th graders, and this is the quietest and most focused this class has ever been.

Students are constantly feeling rushed. Before they’re able to master a skill or concept, they get assessed and are told to move on. It leads to high anxiety and a low sense of self worth. We need to worry less about “staying on pace” and care more about depth of understanding.

As conditions worsen in the US my hope lies w the youth. I believe they will reject racism, efforts to deny human rights and blatant disregard for the environment. My generation must stand w them but it’s their turn to lead.

Progress isn’t always about getting better. Sometimes it’s about bouncing back. Success is not only the peaks you reach—it’s the valleys you conquer. Every experience of enduring adversity and overcoming obstacles is a meaningful accomplishment.   Resilience is a form of growth.

What if Ts were co-thinkers, co-constructors of knowledge with children?

I got this from a former student this morning. I only share this because of historical dislike of grades/assessment. He failed the exam. I would have failed as a human to shut doors.
