My author copies of the book finally arrived and the book looks great! I’m very excited about this publication. I recently did a Q&A with the newspaper, The Jewish Vues. Links to order the book and read the Q&A to follow

@minhagim My parents have always used the Goldberg haggadah. My wife's family uses Maxwell House so that's what we use also.

It's a shame I did not word the poll choices on that one better, because I'm actually curious if ppl have "My Haggada" that has been at 20+ Sedarim, an annual companion. I've used the same since 1999, a gift from my grandmother.
David/Dovid Bashevkin@DBashIdeas

@minhagim This was fun. The new Haggadah question isn’t phrased well for the survey. Otherwise this was a blast.

@minhagim Another minhag is that only the man leading the seder wears a kittel and no one else, not even other adult males

As Pesach approaches, I am reminded of this passage from Sarah Hurwitz's book As A Jew, which has stuck with me since the moment I read it.

@lymanstoneky This is one of those misconceptions that, even if you’re not a stat-head, can be cleared up by just walking around Tel Aviv and asking random people on the street how many kids they have (they’ll totally tell you). Everyone’s got multiples.

Common misconception! Haredi fertility in Israel is about identical to Haredi fertility in the US, Canada, or the UK. So pronatal policy had ~no effect on Haredi fertility. But secular Jews in Israel are around ~2 kids/woman, vs. ~1 in US/Europe. Orthodox are ~4 in Israel vs. ~3 elsewhere. So Israel-specific effects had no effect on Haredi births, but increased births of less extreme groups by ~1 child per woman. How much of that is pronatal policy remains a topic of debate, but the fact that the effect only materializes among groups that in fact do believe in Israel and do pay taxes and are part of the mainstream child benefit and care system suggests that probably Israeli pronatal policy has indeed had a role.
Bennett's Phylactery@extradeadjcb

Israeli govt optimizes openly for *Jewish* fertility & even then, their policies have just turbocharged the growth of the subset of Jews who don't believe in Israel, don't fight in the IDF, barely work, & don't pay taxes This should humble advocates of "pro-natal policy"

One but it will unscrew the old bulb, put it back in, apologize for the mistake, unscrew it again and then ask if there’s anything else it can help you with today.

One but instead of actually changing the bulb, it gives you a 10-point bulleted list on the methodology of changing bulbs, including a safety disclaimer and a summary at the end.
