I still believe that Anthropic royally screwed the pooch by going toe to toe with the Pentagon, but I do hope they continue to push frontier research. I'm afraid that the dominoes are starting to fall, however. Dozens of enterprises have begun distancing from Anthropic. They are all but guaranteed to be banned from the entire federal government and military for at least the next 3 years, and most enterprises will de-risk and when they sign ELA (Enterprise Licensing Agreements) they will prefer to sign with one provider, rather than two. But who knows. Maybe they will take a different direction and be an even more differentiated from Silicon Valley.
