@hubgrill Can we please make sure AZ teams are on the TVs?? Everytime we go in- you never see Dbacks, Suns, and Yotes. Cards you always have on! (Thx) No reason the Dbacks shouldn't be on every other TV during games.

@GCU_Softball Congratulations to the girls and new coach. I wish GCU administration had listened to the countless players that complained about their previous coach for YEARS.

You know whose voices are missing from the media’s daily coverage of Covid & school reopening next week? Teachers & school staff. Why does no one ever want to hear our concerns?

@KerryTaylor15 Coach- at what point do you look inwards? You always talk about accountability and changing the culture... yet all you do is ruffle feathers and get fired from every coaching job. You aren't leading young men- you drag them thru the mud with your BS coaching style and quotes.

@sp_blodgett She has no idea what she is talking about!! I wish she would sub for a month and see what teachers go through. Learning is still happening on Wednesday and weekly PD days help teachers tremendously. At what point do we try and help teachers?

Wood says there a lot of half-days involved, eight, and it's not good for learning. Apologizes for it being late in process. Opportunities for student learning should be first. Wednesdays have become less than ideal learning in her perspective.

Humphreys moves to adopt the 2-2-2 model with Santa Cruz seconding. Jason Martin will make presentation. He is executive director of elementary education. Parents in survey slightly preferred 2-2-2 by about 1%. Staff preferred by 35%.

The rapid development of the #COVID19 vaccine is nothing short of a modern medical miracle. Had a call today with fellow governors and CEO @AlbertBourla and David Hering of @pfizer to discuss the vaccine and distribution among states.

@sp_blodgett If they cared, they would wait until spring break. This would give those a chance who wanted to get the vaccine and opportunity to get both doses.

President Charles Santa Cruz reads statement on his own behalf, not board. He expresses opposition to returning to school Feb. 1, calling it premature. But he will respect vote of the board. Difficult decision with conflicting data points.

Thank you @ArizonaAIA for following science. You, unlike @dougducey, @drcarachrist, and many school districts, are doing what needs to be done to help the community and the hospitals. Most appreciate you all more than you know. Please continue fight for the community & voiceless.

Vote is 2-2 and Humphreys hasn't voted. She wonders if someone has a different motion. She doesn't like two weeks of virtual and two weeks of hybrid, or and she doesn't like four weeks of hybrid. Since no one has anything, she votes aye. Passes 3-2.

Carr says his concern with hybrid is that we open up more non-school nights. His sincere belief is that it ends up contributing to kids actually being out more. He fears it increases likelihood of spread. An unintended consequence.

I think it's worthwhile to point out that it's 11 p.m., school in Gilbert is set to start at 7-8 a.m., depending on the school, and the board has not decided the fate of how school will be conducted yet

@sp_blodgett It's not wrong. Students email teachers and tell them of their postive test results. Then they never get added to the dashboard.

District nurse is saying district has no desire to hide the numbers on dashboard. County will know whether schools know or not, so it will eventually filter to school. Also assumptions on some positives or reason student is out are sometimes wrong.

IT director Castelhano said schools could turn it around quickly. Santa Cruz said other idea is parents, teachers, staff need time to adjust to whatever the decision is. No question we're in the red and hospitals are full.

He also says it's not just we want money. The money is how we take care of out staff. He points metrics have changed and guidance has changed. This came from county and state, not district.
