I recently launched the Farm Staff Network, an online and in person community for people that work on farms (in all capacities).
A platform for farm staff to connect, learn and help each other out.
Farming has never been more isolating and farm staff can often be over looked.
So I'm trying to do something about that.
Expect -
➡️ Online community covering all sectors, plus non farming conversations about money, wellbeing, fitness, parenting etc
➡️ In person meetups, social / wellbeing stuff and farm walks and tours for professional development.
➡️ Training, career support and job postings.
Want to get involved? Sign up here ⬇️

If your the boss, support you farm team and encourage them to check out FSN 💪

THE COST OF BEING DIFFERENT
I remember watching BrewDog when I was younger and being amazed by the journey.
Beer had become corporate and for old men who moaned about politics. BIG BEER had squeezed the life out of it.
Then two guys from Scotland came along and gave a middle hoofed salute to the multinationals. They weren’t just brewing beer - they made a whole new industry for a new generation.
The marketing was outrageous, hilarious, brilliant, bold and edgy. It felt like they were inviting people into something more than a product.
My favourite was when Aldi copied them and they fired back with “YALDI” IPA - it was like they took the German discounters on at their own game and won.
They weren’t saints, they made mistakes - with some pretty public ones.
But show me a business that grows that fast and doesn’t trip over itself along the way - it’s life, and our country doesn’t reward that enough.
What’s hard to watch is how it’s ended - a pre-pack administration pushed through by a huge American firm. In my opinion, that was the moment the ship started taking on water with TSG. A necessary step argued by some, but in reality it was just men in suits wanting to make more money (which didn’t really work out for them).
As someone trying to build a small dairy that pushes back against a dominant industry that doesn’t want to change, I feel it in a pretty personal way - It’s a bloody hard time to be independent. Cash flow is relentless, margins are horrendous, government seemingly doesn’t want us and the pressure doesn’t switch off.
BUT
to the people at BrewDog who’ve lost their jobs - I’m genuinely sorry. Building something disruptive takes guts and rebuilding after it takes even more. I hope you all find new positions out there soon.
Challenger brands matter - even when they wobble and when they fall.
They shift the conversation because they do one things their competitors don’t… which needs a quote from another disrupter
One who failed before building the biggest company in the world - with the odds of you reading this on a device he envisioned being over 50%

Hydraulic systems can be made up of an infinite combination of different components and range from simple to incredibly complex. These systems are often difficult to represent fully, so a family of graphic hydraulic symbols have been developed to represent fluid power components and systems on schematic drawings.
In order to help you to understand these schematics, we've developed a free guide containing more than 140 common symbols, which represent a wide variety of hydraulic components that you're likely to encounter!
To get started, click the link below and access our free guide to hydraulic symbols:

@st3venwilliams @Wyefarm That's my local fuel station. Unfortunately it's usually quite busy, cars queued onto road on a fast double bend. I generally go in an evening when quieter and not too many articles heading to Holyhead port.
English

@Wyefarm Ask the firm you get your red off. A guy I know has a fuel card through his supplier and he gets the daily rate. We’re lucky that we have the cheapest garage in the country 10 miles away so don’t need one, just an excuse to go to. Whitchurch.

Good grades are important, but they aren’t the whole story. To thrive in engineering (and almost any career!), soft skills are just as essential.
So what exactly are soft skills?
🗣️ Communication - sharing ideas clearly with colleagues
⌛ Time management - staying organised and on top of your workload
🤝 Teamwork - collaborating, problem-solving and supporting others
In the real world, engineers don’t just solve technical problems. You’ll need to juggle tasks, adapt when things change, think on your feet, and work closely with others. These skills can make a huge difference in interviews and set you apart in your career.
💡 The good news? You’re already developing soft skills every day.
Group projects, class presentations, part-time jobs, sports teams, volunteering and extracurricular activities all help you build confidence and capability.
