@HELLLLHOOOOLE
stupid - I won’t argue with you on that - but perhaps a normal man ought to be stupid? perhaps it’s even beautiful.

They like it because there’s an extremely thinly veiled version of the Star Trek: The Next Generation crew on a ship that’s basically the crappy discount version of the Enterprise. I assume this is the case anyway not looking into it

@HELLLLHOOOOLE Setting aside your pretensions, tell me: if you close your eyes, DOES it feel like you've been here before? And, regardless, how ARE you gonna be an optimist about this??
English

@CPIM_Lamarck I imagine if the Soviet Union survived it'd look like China except maybe with a couple more semi-successful military interventions
English

@lukeisamazing @dik_fani how do you see that happening? what sort of deal would make that possible? Taiwanese independence and nationalism is more popular than ever and even the US' suicide isn't going to change that
English

@dik_fani I said peaceful, meaning without military invasion. with the US turning everything toward Iran and removing defenses from Taiwan, the writing is on the wall, time to make the deal

@linkshund @_MichaelOswell_ @comradesanchez "Epstein class" is not a "subset" of capital any more than "bourgeois class" is. it's a useful metonym
English

@_MichaelOswell_ @comradesanchez No, but it's got a socialism of fools aspect to it: nominating one - albeit this time actually real and extra evil - subset of capital and so shielding the rest.
English

seeing the phrases “goyslop” and “Epstein class” everywhere too is giving socialism of fools. hate to see criticism of Israel get hijacked by the anti-Semitic far-right, but that’s the obvious outcome of liberal & Jewish-Am. elites’s complicity in genocide & colonization.
attractive wastrel@UrbaneUrban
seeing “goyim” replace “normie” in online parlance is still insane to me. fash occupied culture.

@smokepetrol how many people outside of "knowledge workers" (incl cooders) are using Claude through, Claude is maybe the most enterprise-geared LLM (other than I guess copilot)
English

@HELLLLHOOOOLE I'm surprised it's that high but it makes sense to me globally (you don't worry as much about replacement and housing and maintaining your skills if your job has nothing to do with "knowledge work" as a PMC conceives it)
English

There are guys in e.g. Jakarta spending their days staring at n8n flows automating their old TikTok spam pipelines at order-of-magnitude multiples, feeding their families off the death of the Feed. I salute em.
This data is shit though
Anthropic@AnthropicAI
Globally, 67% of people view AI positively, but optimism runs higher in South America, Africa, and Asia than in Europe or the United States.
English

@smokepetrol imagining a mcdonalds ad that says "2 in 3 customers like our burgers!"
English

@smokepetrol honestly the fact that only 67% of people *willingly using claude* liked AI is hilarious
English

people keep calling this an "issue" like it isn't a very explicit riff on the sorts of 'typical' fantasy stories Robert's Rebellion is supposed to embody
v.s@patroklov
my favorite grrmism is his issues with age. cus like roberts rebellion really was a cw drama with all these armies being led by teenagers beefing with old men
English

@alecballin @Otterman_ @Bolshie_Boy but these tropes are YA tropes that came *after* GRRM had begun writing. it's nonsense. you can't actually point to instances of these tropes that he's supposedly playing on, because they are barely found in the sort of fantasy GRRM was responding to.
English

@HELLLLHOOOOLE @Otterman_ @Bolshie_Boy i think they are talking about broad generic tropes not specific stories
